Judah, Quintana Offered Paul Williams Title Shot

Zab Judah Turns Down Paul Williams, Dan Goossen Prowls For Proper Opponent!

    Michael Marley
    11/30/2007
Promoter Dan Goossen, early riser on the LeftCoast, was up before the birds Friday morning. The head man of Goossen Tutor Promotions had two news items to offer ****************** readers.

One, Goossen said he was disappointed to report that colorful Zab Judah had to turn down a February HBO title shot against undefeated WBO welterweight champion Tall Paul Williams.

“Unfortunately, we can’t get Zab,” Goossen said. “His people said he’s got a sore hand or something. I am looking right now the best possible opponent that we can find. With Paul, it’s easy in the sense that he is willing to fight anyone out there.”

In speaking with BC's Ricardo Lois Thursday night, Goossen also mentioned Luis Collazo, Ricardo Mayorga, Carlos Quintana and Antonio Margarito as he foes he would make inquires about.

Speaking of our feathered friends, Goossen also said David Tua promoter Cedric Kushner did not speak truthfully in telling ****************** that he was insulted by a cheep, cheep offer for the Tuaman to fight Goossen’s up and comer Cristobal Arreola underneath the Williams-TBA main event.

“I did not low ball Cedric in any way,” Goossen said. “What I asked him to do was give me a number as to what it would take to get David in the ring with Arreola. I never mentioned any specific amount. Cedric told me he would not accept $150,000 but that was a figure that he came up with. I guess he just doesn’t want the fight and he should have told me that.”

Meanwhile, the Goose is on the loose prowling for a palatable Williams opponent

I always liked Zab for some reason but this is the end of the road for him.....

On another note nobody appears to really want to fight Williams......Can't blame really....he is a tall ass lengthy WW.

He broke his hand, cant spar or hit the heavy bag until Jan. He's making the right decision.

"We want the biggest fight we can get," Goossen said. "Paul wants to fight. He hasn't fought since July 14. So we are moving full steam ahead to get someone in place as quickly as possible."

Judah is No. 1 on the list and his promoter, Brian Young, said he will talk over the fight with Judah and his father/trainer, Yoel Judah.

"I think it would be a great fight, competitive," Young said. "I need to see if Zab is ready to take it."

Judah outpointed Ryan Davis on Nov. 17 but suffered a small crack in his left hand.

"The hand will be OK, but he can't spar until January," Young said. "The hand is a little tender, but it's not a big deal. We'll see what happens. I am waiting to hear back from Zab and his father. I think there's interest. How much, I can't say."

Of course he is making the right decision. No need to set himself up for a possible loss just to get a title shot. He just won an IBC title, I believe. Not the most prominent title, but it is a start.

He broke his hand that is the case. I don't t hink Zab has ever turned down a fight, especially one with a title on the line.

                  what a ****ty biased article.

“Unfortunately, we can’t get Zab,” Goossen said. “His people said he’s got a sore hand or something."

HE HAS A CRACK IN HIS HAND.
HE CAN'T EVEN PUT GLOVES ON TIL JANUARY.
HOW DO EXPECT HIM TO FIGHT IN FEBRUARY.

****ing idiots, saying that they "turned it down"

Williams is overrated anyway, Zab would've handled him.

Have nothing against Paul though, he's a nice guy. Goosen shouldn't be talking that way.

Quintana-Williams would be nice...or a rematch against Tony.
