Would anyone give Pavlik a chance against Calzaghe?

Calzaghe is on the slide. Sad to say since I love the guy, but his age is finally catching up with him. Hes going to have to turn into a crafty fighter to win this fight. He wont be able to outwork Pavlik.

It'd be a good fight, but I think Calzaghe even nearing the end of his career would still be too quick for Pavlik. He won't KO Pavlik but it should be a wide UD in his favor.

Kessler is a bigger (not talking height here people) version of Pavlik and he landed BOMBS on Joe. Pavlik is one of my favorite fighters out there right now, but Joe C beats him worse then he beat Kessler. Kessler did alot of things right and still lost clearly.

Well, Pavlik is certainly no Lacey. What an odd comparision. Yeah, both hit hard but Pavlik is taller and longer than Calzaghe, and actually sets up his power punches which are considerably more accurate and varied than Lacey's. Pavlik also has very good defense while Lacey has proven to be a human punching bag for the most part. Still, I believe Calzaghe may have too much experience, hand speed, and mobility for Pavlik at this point. Unlike Taylor, Calzaghe can also keep his hands and jab busy for an entire fight. I see Calzaghe winning a UD though Pavlik could catch and hurt him a few times.

Kessler/Pavlik would also be very interesting. Kessler has quicker hands than Pavlik, is just as smart and technically sound, and almost as strong. I would slightly favor Kessler by a tough decision but Pavlik could get his reachy jab going and do some damage as well.

kessler quit mentally in that fight for a few rounds, he was doing everything he did right when he ****ed up marcus beyer and won his other fights and it didn't stop calzaghe. pavlik is different, i know pavlik can make adjustments during the fight because i've seen him do it in his last few fights. pavlik is much tougher and more determined than kessler, he'd make the fight a war, the only way he can beat calzaghe. i think joe is starting to show his age, he looked great against kessler but if mikkel had stepped up his game instead of giving up he could have beaten joe. kessler won the 12th round, not calz

I dont think Kesssler gave up mentally, he became desperate, and put more pressuer on Joe,but that didnt work either, so he became frustrated yet still was aggresive.
But yea, Pavlik would just keep coming, yet Joe is good enough to outbox and frustrate him also.

Get off Joe's ****, guys. He's bordering on great, yeah. But don't make him look invincible- unless you wanna end up with some hurt feelings soon.

after pavlik has a few more fights, i say 3 or so more, then i think he would be ready to take on calzaghe. right now the major advantage that calzaghe has is the big show experience, which i think pavlik needs a little more of so he would know how to handle certain situations. plus calzaghe has faster hands and good footwork, he shows angles, but i think with a little more experience pavlik would be right on target for calzaghe.

i think pavlik, with the way his career has been going, if he continues his formula for winning, he will beat calzaghe, but as of right now, this very moment in his career, i think a fight with calzaghe is way too soon, patients is the key.

this post is so biased thats its actually funny. Pavlik hits alot harder than Calzaghe does so i know he will hurt Kessler if he lands too many of those right hands. and i don't know why you are acting like Calzaghe is unbeatable. Dawson will be the man who will dethrone Calzaghe in the future. he will out box him and beat him to the punch. and please, he had Lacy hurt throughout the whole fight but did he stop him?

first of all, know the fighters before you post! you didn't even know who Dawson was so how would you know what we are talking about? the fighter that Dawson was beating was an undefeated WBC light heavyweight champ. he was just confused about the blinding handspeed of Dawson.

I like pavlik but calzaghes in a whole different league, the boys too quick and he wont stop throwing punchs till Pavliks on his ass or the end off round 12, theirs no middleweight,supermiddleweight,light heavyweight on the planet at the moment who would beat Calzaghe , and to comment on the guy who said dawson has a chance off beating calzaghe tht boy would get schoold all nite another lacy beating
