Would anyone give Pavlik a chance against Calzaghe?

Nah. Kessler is so fast and fluid, and has a good defense. Pavlik can't defend and throw punches with any fluidity back and forth. Pavlik couldn't get those rounds, and even if he lands a few punches he can't knock Joe out.

How would you see Kessler vs. Pavlik? I'd pikc Kessler to win a pretty wide decision.

When you have been in the ring with the biggest punchers you could possibly face, and they dont even scratch you, then I think its a safe bet that you wont be knocked out by some hyped up bum on steriods. Calzaghe wouldnt even take this fight, the guy is barely heard of outside of America. As for the fight itself, lets get a second opinion on this one, post a poll if youre not scared to get whipped.

And stood toe to toe with bigger punchers than Pavlik and come out unscathed. Joes been dropped twice, once by the heavy handed Byron Mitchell who caught him cold early on in the fight, and once by Kabery Salem. Joe didnt even train properly for the Salem fight, he was in the middle of a messy divorce and his heart wasnt in it, but he still climbed off the floor and won. Byron Mitchell found out exactly what happens when you catch a fully fit and hungry Calzaghe, but that has been stated enough times on this forum so I wont go there now.

Nothing is impossible, but it's pretty damn hard to win a decision and get the judges scores go your way against a guy that throws 1000+ punches a fight.

Well, Pavlik is certainly no Lacey. What an odd comparision. Yeah, both hit hard but Pavlik is taller and longer than Calzaghe, and actually sets up his power punches which are considerably more accurate and varied than Lacey's. Pavlik also has very good defense while Lacey has proven to be a human punching bag for the most part. Still, I believe Calzaghe may have too much experience, hand speed, and mobility for Pavlik at this point. Unlike Taylor, Calzaghe can also keep his hands and jab busy for an entire fight. I see Calzaghe winning a UD though Pavlik could catch and hurt him a few times.

Kessler/Pavlik would also be very interesting. Kessler has quicker hands than Pavlik, is just as smart and technically sound, and almost as strong. I would slightly favor Kessler by a tough decision but Pavlik could get his reachy jab going and do some damage as well.
