Heres an excerpt from my next article which talks about this:

"Hatton's appeal is unique, something that American audiences cannot relate to. Put it this way, if the fight was in England, how many fans would make the trans-Atlantic journey to see Mayweather-Hatton? Here's a hint, not 30,000. Hatton is a prized export, like Manny Pacquiao is to the Philippines, like Naseem Hamed was to England, like Julio Cesar Chavez was to Mexico. To America, Floyd Mayweather is just a prizefighter. To England, Ricky Hatton is much more."

this thread is about ellerbe saying fans are coming to see floyd
      which is bs
the gate draw is clearly ricky and has been a bigger gate draw than floyd is whole career

i know that hurt u floyd fans so u bring this up which has nothing to do with the topic:

boxings biggest fight (2.4 million PPV Buys)
being watch on pay per view doesnt make u the bigger draw sure it generates more money for the fighter and promoter but being on terrestrial tv generates more money and more fans or if didnt why isnt the NFL on ppv

but just like someone said earlier hatton doesnt need to go on dancing with the stars to sell the fight . floyd obviously does if he wants to make as much money(his cut off ppv) as he did on his last ppv without oscar bringing most of the ppv buys

20,000 fans is chump change compared to 2 million pay per
      views
      some article frank warren:
the Amir Khan-Mario Kindelan rematch in May.

"It delivered fantastic TV ratings - to the tune of 6.3m(i think the M stands for million) viewers - that beat everything else that night and is the biggest Saturday night viewership this year.

"Just imagine what kind of figures exciting fighters like Ricky Hatton and Joe Calzaghe will pull in
so floyd fans response i dont care about british rating
      that doesnt generate ppv $$

just shut up already. floyd is clearly the better fighter and more accomplished fighter but hes not the bigger gate draw staying on topic

At the end of the day, few American fighters have enjoyed the same reverence observed from foreign fighters in their countries due to the fact that the U.S. is huge and overwhelmed with stars and greats. When all you have is Ricky and Joe, and when all the Phillipines has is Pacquiao, it means a lot. This says very little about world acclaim.

Dude, first off, what the hell does Amir Khan have to do with Ricky Hatton? Also, more than 6 million viewers tuned in to De La Hoya/Mayweather 24/7 alone. Mayweather has headlined HBO cards for years (which is a company bigger than any sports station in England, with a bigger base), which consistently draws on millions. You've yet to produce numbers from Ricky Hatton and instead emphasize live gate in England, without even demonstrating its relevance to drawing power (Mayweather doesn't fight in England, nor is he from there).

Apparently neither does Mayweather since he helped generate 2.4 million pay per view buys before he ever thought about that show.

he helped..DUDE.. you are a comedian..that's right. HE HELPED. ASSISTED..like Dela Hoya assistant. Dela was the draw, always has been and 24/7 boosted it ..along with a villian (Floyd)..

as much as youre discounting what he says, its 100 percent true, we have an overcrowding of superstars in this country, from basketball, to american football, to baseball, from the pro levels to the college levels, its really tough to be a star in this country without being something special. i pointed this out way earlier.
