Calzaghe: "My Heart Wants Ricky Hatton To Win"
Collapse

I guess the world will see on Dec 8th...
There will be many people rooting for Hatton to win (many simply b/c they dont care for Mayweather as a person which I find interesting since the vast majority really no nothing about him accept the image he portrays in front of the cameras). At any rate, those same people wanting him to prevail are all wondering if he can actually accomplish the feat. I take nothing away from hatton's heart or desire but I do question whether he's really a good enough boxer to beat boxing's best pure talent. Everyone wants to reference the kosta tzysu fight because hatton was basically able to pressure him into submission. He didnt give tzysu a physical beating but moreso wore him down physically (and perhaps mentally) through constant pressure similar to how juan diaz has won his last two fights. Regardless as to what the popular sentiment is, that approach wont work w/ mayweather b/c no one is going to wear him down physically or mentally..nor will hatton outbox him. Im sure most of you have been viewing the 24/7 countdown series, but did you peep how floyd's camp has him sparring 14 & 15 rds?? I've heard roger mayweather comment on floyd's preparation for other fights and they dont spar 3min rds. They spar 5min+ rds which is why no one has seen the man winded or tired regardless as to what round took place or how much action ensued therefore how are you going to pressure someone who wont get winded or tire down the stretch?? (Did you all see floyd on his knees vomiting in a bucket after his sparring session??..no one should be questioning his work ethic or thinking he's taking hatton lightly)..Add his immense ego & strong will and it's difficult to see anybody making him quit on his stool. (kosta tzysu had more punching power than floyd but I dont feel he was a better boxer even in his prime) Hatton pretty much only has two chances of winning this fight (no matter how prepared he is physiologically) and that's via a one punch k-o or if mayweather has problems w/ his hands early in the fight and is unable to throw enough leather to keep hatton off of him (which is essentially what occurred in castillo/mayweather I & floyd still got the W).Last edited by Hitman88; 11-27-2007, 11:42 AM.Comment

The bold print is probably what has Calzaghe a bit bitter, as far as wanting Floyd to lose.
That and of course national pride.

If you believe that Floyd Mayweather knows who Amir Khan is and wants pictures with him but doesn't know who Joe Calzaghe is then you'll believe anything.Comment

Those individuals are Not exactly picking him, but rooting for him to pull it off
I bet those same individuals have reservations about placing any serious wagers or bets on Hatton.Comment

Your idiocy is beyond comprehension.
Only the judges and his many nuthuggers had him winning that fight. Watch it again and score it FAIRLY and you will see what I mean. There will be many people rooting for Hatton to win (many simply b/c they dont care for Mayweather as a person which I find interesting since the vast majority really no nothing about him accept the image he portrays in front of the cameras). Hatton will do to Floyd what Castillo did, only he will hit a lot harder and a lot more often.; The only trouble here is Hatton will get the same treatment as Castillo did should it go to a decision, Americans cannot give their poster boy a loss no matter how blatant it is.Comment

Ofcourse he'd have a diffrent view. Joe would be confident knowing that Hatton would be able to wrestle his way to victoryYeah, I would suppose Joe has concerns for the judging and reffing over here. From his past, I'd say this supposition may be true in Joe's mind. Now on the other hand, if the fight were being staged in Britain, I'm suggesting that Joe might have a different view. IMOComment
