Ruslan Chagaev-Matt Skelton in The Works

The word coming out of the UK is that Matt Skelton (21-1, 18KOs) is on the verge of landing a title shot at WBA heavyweight champion Ruslan Chagaev (23-0-1, 17KOs). Skelton, the Commonwealth (British Empire) heavyweight champ, is coming off a string of big wins over Michael Sprott and Danny Williams. Sprott's only loss is to Danny Williams in 2006, which he avenged later that year. [details]

C'mon, Skelton will be 41 in January. Chagaev can't find anyone better to fight?

Holy cow, it says here Skelton was a world class kickboxer, but didn't turn pro in boxing till he was 35, no wonder.

Ruslan Chagaev will easily KO Skelton. Chagaev's promoter Klaus-Peter Kohl is trying to set up a 2nd unification fight in the summer with the winner of Wlad vs Sultan. This is just a tune up fight for Chagaev to get ready for Wlad.

No way Chagaev is the weakest, when you have Ibragimov and Maskaev with belts (though I guess maybe Peter is the interim champ.)

Im beginning to have my doubts about chageav. first he pulls out of a unification fight with sultan,,,now looks to fight none other than 41 yr old skelton? his biggest wins were very very close decisions over beatable guys like valuev and ruiz and apparently he was given a gift decision over virchis. maybe he's not as good as most of us thought and his promoters and himself know this? I dont know,,,,Im now having my doubts about this guy. I wouldnt be surprised if he ducks the wlad/sultan winner and fights another can
