Fencing is a sport where by "hit and not get hit" is the main mantra, boxing is about rendering your opponent in a state whereby he can no longer continue, in which a limit of 12 rounds is set. Setting your stall out to win a decision right from the start ISN'T what boxing should be about.

Boxing stemmed from prize-fighting, the main aim of which was to entertain. needless to say, there weren't many 12 round decisions in a prize fight.

Knock the guy out, because you can box very well and the judge are only human, so you can loose, if you knock the guy out you have the victory for sure

Put it this way i enjoyed the exchanges between Mayorga & Vargas i enjoyed Mayorga's aggression but i think the most enjoyable thing to see was the rare glimpses of the old Vargas who started to Box & pick his shots & Box on occasions

Im not quite sure if there is too many people out there that love to get hit. I mean there are guys that probably don't mind it, but I doubt there are too many that love it. So for me the point of boxing is too hit your opponent as many times as you can and limiting the amount of times you get hit. The great thing about boxing is there is an art to it for a sport that seems so simple as throwing a punch and landing it. On the other hand though it's enertainment and usually the most popular boxers are ones that provide exciting fights and the ones that don't usually are left on the sideline looking in, unless they got some kind persona outside of the ring that people like or dislike. I mean boxing would be great if there was only KO's, but the sport would probably get banned because we would have so many deaths every year.

iF Baldomir ,Gatti, Margarito could Box Like Dawson ,Guzman ,PBF then do u no think they would take advantage of it

Terry Norris had all the ability in the world but he was a gunslinger as well as a Boxer the difference between him & someone like PBF is Floyd has the discipline to stick to a game plan unfortunately Terry did'nt and he paid the price cause he lost fights he should'nt have a schooled them in rematches etc with pure Boxing abilty Simon Brown 2

Floyd Mayweather could have easily lost his composure & discipline with Judah after the low blow but he did'nt ,dont get me wrong i do wish he would press his adavantage more but i aint gonna get on his case for Boxing clever

u yourself would dso the same in his position

To hit and not get hit, and leave the sport with all your marbles intact.

Back in the day, they mostly fought to survive and feed the family without regard to skill or consequence.

Today it's about pride, respect, and money. Mostly money.

And if you're a natural, the odds and options are better.

Pot shotting your way to 12 round decisions isn't what the spirit of boxing is about. yes, a fighter like Gatti would have loved to posses silky skills but when ******s say "If you don't like Mayweather, then you know nothing about boxing" are as dumb and ignorant as they proclaim YOU to be. I can appreciate fighters like Floyd, Guzman, Casamayor, but they don't excite me.
