what is the point of boxing??

i want to see what peoples opinions are. i think it is to knock the other guy out. that is why they didnt have no judges in the early days and the fight would go on until there was a knockout. that was the days when real men were in boxing not all these cowards and businessman we have today. what do you think is the main objective of boxing??

to knock a guy out was back in the day, now today it is more to do with hit and not get hit.

The point of boxing is to entertain. Sometimes, fights are entertaining without the knockout. Think Gatti-Ward, Morales-Barrera.. Morales-Pacquaio I.. In terms of the fighter, its to win the fight and do it smart. In your way, whatever way favors you. Strategy. Plain and simple.

To see 2 professionals, balanced as much as possible, masters at there art, fight in the most primal way legally allowed to see who is the More dominant male.

I wish it was purer, until one couldnt stand anymore

to hit and not get hit, just because you looking for a KO doesn't mean you going to let yourself get hit, I'm pretty sure even back then they had good defenses to withstand blows and guard when not striking, they was still hitting and not getting hit it's just them days were more brutal, it was Boxing at it's premature stages, the stage where the seed was planted and now today we have a full blown flower, a better constitution of Boxing that allows for MORE people to become fighters due to not so rigorous conditions and petty pay days, now you can actually make a living off of Boxing without have to fight like every 2 weeks to a month and retire with 150+ fights just to eat.. 100

Thats a great point, its changed, its evolution for you. For me I always liked the primalness of it. Just depends on your viewpoint, but your completely right, boxing could only move in this direction.

Im just romanced by its origins.

Coward seems to gets used alot around here to describe some boxers, but no way is someone who goes into that ring to fight for 12 rounds a coward, id say the ones sitting behind their keybaords and talking all this **** about boxers on an internet forum and are usually the ones to never participate in this sport, are the real cowards.

I feel u homie, I call those days the glory days because thats when Boxing was at it's most gladiator form, it was more of a gladiator sport more than anything, REAL full contact and the fighters there were just brutal, they don't make guys like that anymore, to be able to endure bare fists so often for so many rounds at a time is just amazing, I FULLY respect Boxing in it's glory days BUT times goes on and for everyday that passes there can only be room for improvements, thank goodness that Boxing turned into what it is today because now there is more charisma there, it's not just a crowd of people going to see 2 men kill each other, it evolved in a very good way.. 100
