Comparing Vargas to Marion Wilson is kinda misleading though. To Vargas credit he was rarely outclassed from the get go and usually there was the thought of maybe he can do something dramatic! I never counted him out of the Trinidad fight once he survived the 1st round, and until Tito put those monster shots on him late I thought Vargas had as good a chance to win by kayo as Trinidad. The way Vargas fought somewhere between boxing smarty pants and slugging tough guy obvioulsy doesn't lend itself to a durable career routinely beating top notch guys, but he always showed up. But I digress, his quality of competition I would rate a 6.

The point i was making was that Wilson has got a better resume than alot of Heavyweights based on his losses but what does that prove ??

And its exactly the same for Vargas yes i know Vargas is much better fighter but you get what i mean.

this is the resume of a true warrior who is not afraid to fight the best.
On a resume, "who did you beat" is more important than "who did you fight".

If you just use "who did you fight", then Jesse James Leija belongs in Canastota.

I must be missing something, I've been watching boxing for 15 years and I always thought your resume' only counted for your wins, and not your losses. Apparently I'm a ****** **** for thinking that you have to beat a fighter in order to put them on your record.

people will always criticize maywetaher for not fight many fighters like mosley cotto margarito zoo etc. so it does matter who you fight even if you lose.

its people who think this way that allow a coward like maywetaher to get away with ducking the best fighters. you should get credit for being a man and fighting the best even if you lose. all the greats would not be greats if they didnt have losses from fighting the best. the only guy to retire undefeated champion is marciano and he has a terrible resume.
