Collectively or just currently how do you rate these guys vs. each other?
Freddie Roach vs. Manny Steward

To me they are pretty even. They both are real quick and good at finding a weakness in the opponent during the fight and immediately bring it to their fighter's attention. Whether or not the fighter does something about it is another story. I think overall Freddy is more hardcore when it comes to the gym work moreso then what we see of him in the corner. But eitherway I like both and think they are just about dead even in everything they do.Comment

I'd give the nod to Manny. Anyone who can turn glass jawed lewis into a dominant champion vs some GREAT punchers....oh, and his nearly 30 years making champions helps a bit too
Roach is no slouch though, it isn't like one is landslide better than another

Freddie Roach is numero uno for me. If you're not a jab and stick fighter, Steward wouldn't know what do with you. Here's an analogy of what I'm trying to point out, If Roach was an animal he'd be a chameleon. Ya understand!
Roach is great with working with what hes got. Not too many coaches have this quality. If you weren't good at bobbin' n' weavin', Cus D' Amato woudn't know what to do with you!
Give PAC to Steward and he would never be the fighter he is today!
George Foreman once said(i'm paraphrasing), " sometimes you just gotta let the fighter be, you try to change too many things about a particular fighter and he'll commit more errors than do the right things in the ring".
Steward coaching NAZ! NAZ brought so many bad habits with him and Steward try to correct every single one of 'em.
PAC brought so many bad habits with him and still has them to this day, but look at what Roach has done for him!! PAC's still the same ole 1-2 fighter, but Roach made a few corrections, and didn't try to alter too many things about PAC, he just brought out PAC's strengths.Last edited by We want Floyd; 11-25-2007, 01:15 AM.Comment
