Merchant has ****in down syndrome
Is Larry Merchant gonna be the commentator for Hatton vs Mayweather???

Larry was great that night. I admit he has off nights but his appeal is broad, with the witty quips drawing in newcomers, and the old sayings being near and dear to diehards like us. Larry is irreplaceable IMO.Comment

Merchant is borderline useless...it is funny when he says something out of nowhere and everyone else ignore him during 10 seconds of awkward silence, and then just keep talking about whatever they were talking about. I can't really blame him for being senile though.
I haven't seen Kellerman enough to see how biased he is, but I'll take everyone's word that he is. Which is annoying, especially considering all the nuthugging lamply does...if I had a ****ing nickel for every time he said BIG RIGHT HAND!!!! when it was a ****ing run of the mill cross, I'd be rich.
I'd think I'll go with Merchant, at least he is funny.Comment

Good ole Max and his bug eyes.
I can't stand him. He's always emphasizing the negatives of fighters he doesn't like.
I remember he did the pre fight breakdown for Gatti-Mayweather and he **** all over Gatti and couldn't say one positive thing about him. I'm a huge Gatti fan and knew he would get his ass handed to him, but the guy went out of his way to get on two knees and praise PBF.
Here's to you Max

I dont like Merchant because everytime he is asked a question he pauses for a minute to let the question run through his head the he answeres are slow and pointless. But he is better then Kellerman, Kellerman comes up with some ****ed up analogies like when he was describing the HBO triple header this past june (july?) he went on giving us a sypnosis on the new Die Hard movie b4 getting to the point and even then the point was useless. i like commentators that i dont know who they are like SHowtimeComment

It's BS is Kellerman gets to call the fight. Merchant even on an off night is better than Kellerman. It's too soon for Kellerman to be calling such big fights. He doesn't have the chemistry with Jim Lampley and his comments are sometimes painful to hear. I lost all respect for him when he bashed Arturo Gatti after his loss against Gomez, I already didn't like him before then, but that was the nail in the coffin for me.Comment
