Floyd: "I am the greatest boxer"

FLOYD MAYWEATHER claims he is the greatest fighter of all time.

The Pretty Boy will fight British ace Ricky Hatton in Las Vegas on December 8.

And ahead of the fight, he is in a typically confident mood.

The ****y American boasted: "I can quit today and I'll be known as the best fighter that ever lived.

"I respect what Sugar Ray Robinson and Muhammad Ali did for the sport.

"But I am the greatest, and this is my time."

Every time he says things like this he drops in the estimation of just about everyone.

No he'll never be known for defense in the same way as Willie Pep. Pep was winning decisions in opponents' hometowns in the same era that one of the coaches at our gym was losing four round decisions against guys he knocked down five times.

He has the right to free speech even if he does talk nonsense. Ali claimed to be the greatest and had pretty much the same reaction at the time. Greatness can't just be declared. It has to be bestowed. And the bestowing won't happen until after Floyd has retired. As long as he doesn't embarrass himself and destroy his legacy, like RJJ did.

                  that if for sure.

RJJ still have a chance to regain his legacy.

As for Floyd reaction and people calling it disgrace to the sport they should have 2nd though about it.

Every sportsman or even person trys to be the best out there and Ali as well as SRR are the bench mark to sports greatness and to build you legacy against theres.

The is why Hatton is fighting Floyd for the same reason. That is why Margarito want Floyd. That is why Mosely and Cotto are fought each others.

If you are not trying to be the best in certain stage of you career then WTF are you doing in the ring taking the risk? I understand if someone like Toney Booth fights for 150 bout to put food on the table but if you are as good as Floyd and Hatton then it time to build you legacy.

For Hatton he begins his legacy if he won Floyd and that will take him to top 3 at least p4p fighters and there he will start to fight to become ATG and after that GOAT

Floyd wasn't trashing them at all, he was just saying that he feels he is the best ever. Ali did the same thing, right after the Liston fight, he began calling himself the greatest and this was right in front of Joe Louis, who at the time was probably the greatest Heavyweight ever, hell some still have him as the greatest ever. You could make the case that Ali was being disrespectful to Joe, but Floyd wasn't disrespectful to Ali nor SRR.

BTW, I am not Floyd's biggest fan, but why all the Floyd bashing around here lately? Besides MAYBE Margarito, what fighters has he ducked? He fought everyone that there was ready and willing to fight.
