For as long as Mayweather continues to alienate potential champions of his cause then I think it does hurt him.

I don't think he can really alienate anybody because skills, talent, and accomplishments speak for themselves. I think we both know majority of entertainment figures are more greatly appreciated after they are gone. So right now he may have that problem from some people with the things he says but in the long run certain things can't be denied regardless of hate.

Floyd Mayweather has stepped up his war of words with Ricky Hatton by claiming to be the greatest boxer ever.

The unbeaten American welterweight insists he is even better than legends Sugar Ray Robinson and Muhammad Ali.

The 30-year-old, who fights Hatton in Las Vegas on 8 December, said: "I can quit today and be known as the best fighter that ever lived.

"I respect what Robinson and Ali did for the sport. But I am the greatest, and this is my time."

Its a truly sad day in the world when a man can't have an opinion of himself and not have people ***** whin and complain about it. He has already said before that he has not given this sport 30 years of his life to say anyone is better than him. He also said he takes his hat off to Hagler, Robinson, Leonard and all those people but he can't say they are better then him.
If you feel they are better than him then that is fine and your right just like its his right to say he is better than them.
I don't agree with him being the best ever but I also don't have a problem with him saying he is the best ever.
**** I wouldn't care is somebody like John Ruiz said they were the best that his opinion **** should I care about a mans opinion of himself?

The thing is though its an opinion of himself. I agree all day that people can disagree with that opinion because I do myself. The **** that is crazy to me is when people say they HATE PBF because of the things he says. The **** has gone way to far when people start to hate another man because of the opinion he has of himself. But to assasinate his whole career along with all the other **** people say its just ****ing crazy.

everyone wants to be the best ever been. So dont wack off and saying he is jerk for saying that.

If you arent trying to do be better than Ali and SRR at some level of you competition then WHAT THE **** ARE YOU TRYING TO PROVE?
