Exactly. There would'nt be any excitement in the division if everyone faced everyone at once, they need to build themselves first on certain fights, promoters need to cash in, make their fighters stars and then matching them up where both the fighters would make a lot of money and it would be a BIG PPV, better for boxing. Build-up makes up for more excitement/anticipation.
im not hating on ricky hatton,i hope he does well vs floyd but.....

top rank wasn't ready yet to put cotto in with the real champ in hatton.
cotto faced a 3rd round scare against corley in early 05' and an even bigger scare in sept 05 (3 months after hatton-tszyu) against torres.Comment

how did he have 3 of the 4 belts when cotto had one and floyd had oneYou dont understand.
Maussa was a fawking NOBODY when he fought Cotto. And same when he fought Harris. There probably wasn't even any available tape on him other then his bout with Cotto.
He was brought in for the Harris bout and Harris was expected to blow him out. They were trying to set up a Harris - Mayweather bout. Evidence of this is the press conference that was held. Tons of **** talk from the Harris/Mayweather camps. Gatti was almost a forgotten spectacle. He was pretty much expected to get blasted by Mayweather.
Maussa, by nothing more then luck won the title. Hatton pounced on this oppurtunity..and had control of 3 out of 4 belts because of this. Which meant he would have the leg up in negotiations whoever he chose to fight at 140.
