Hopkins could beat Joe, even at his age, although it won't be easy now, Joe could just as well beat Hopkins. In his prime, I think Hopkins would have almost certainly beaten him because he had everything Joe has only better. Now I believe they are somewhat evenly matched but Joe has age as an advantage and consequently speed. Joe would probably beat Pavlik convincingly though. And Hopkins is the top draw, deserving of the 60/40 in this fight, he's fought better opponents and he's a guaranteed hall-of-famer. Joe's hall of fame status still hangs in the balance, the next few fights will decide.
Having said all that, Calzaghe is a very skillful boxer, he just needs the opposition, the names to reflect it on his record and he's slowly managing to achieve that with Lacy and Kessler now on the books. Fight Hopkins, Pavlik, Taylor, Wright, Tarver and Calzaghes record would finally live up to the legend.
