Could Hopkins Face Jones Instead of Calzaghe?

Roy Jones Jr. is a heavy favorite over the returning Felix Trinidad when they collide at a catch-weight of 170-pounds on Jan. 19 in New York's Madison Square Garden. Should Jones look impressive and most expect he will, several potential paydays are waiting in the wings. [details]

I don't know about Hopkins getting more money than Cal but I do think the fight should take place in the U.S. Cal has RECENTLY stated he would come to the U.S. to face Hopkins so if the fight doesn't happen because of that I can't help but blame Joe.

If Hopkins pursues a fight against RJJ instead of Calzaghe then he deserves to be ridiculed for ducking Calzaghe twice.

And what's up with that article stating that location is an issue. This is the one thing we know IS NOT an issue.

I knew from day one the Hopkins fight would never happen.

Calzaghe said he would come to the US. He ****ed up there.

Hopkins doesn't deserve to be getting 60% of the money either. I cant believe he considers the Jones fight a better fight.

Unless the money is right, Calzaghe is not coming to America. Hopkins wants 60%. Hopkins doesnt care how much money is involved, he is not going to Wales.

As far as I am concerned the money should be split 50/50 if the fight is in America. If Hopkins is adamant about getting 60/40 the he can come to Wales and get a guaranteed 60% or else they can fight in America with the winner getting 60%.

Well of course the money has to be right. That's a given for this fight taking place anywhere. Given that the next fight is likely to be Calzaghe's retirement fund fight I
d be very surprised if he took this fight for peanuts, nor should he.

I hope this is all just negotiating, as it isn't half looking like Hopkins is looking for a way out.
