Defense is fine. Defense in the pocket and coming forward is fine. Making someone come at you can be fun, because you can set him up. But moving out of range, and waiting for the fight to end so you can get a decision, in the words of Vito Corleone, "that I do not accept."

Yeah I agree if the fighter is just trying to avoid fighting then point should be taken and so on but on the other side of it isn't it the other mans job to go get him.
I don't think you can always put the blame on the defencive guy because he's doing what he does to win and the man that doesn't stop him is not.

Really it all comes down to match ups and how they do it.
I love to watch all of Hopkins,Jones and Toney's fights even when they don't have a lot of action, and all of them have somewhat deffensive styles.

Yet I enjoy a Floyd or Whitaker fight because they are so good at what they do but do not have much fun watching most of their less action fights.

        Agree?
no, because 1 doesn't come before the other, ever heard of a phrase? truth is you hit when you can't get hit, it's not step 1 hit and step 2 don't get hit dogz, it's use them elements when you need to whether the guy is putting on too much pressure and you gotta fight going backwards or he isn't coming forward and you just fighting a safe fight, either way your goal is to hit him as many times and not get hit in return.. as for your Basketball analogy let ME ask YOU, if a team doesn't have good defense will he make it into the playofff and win the championship? hell motha****in no, you probably don't increase your score but you DO increase your chances at not only scoring but stopping the other team from scoring..

I don't beat around bushes dogz I know you made this thread in light of many on here saying Floyd does the "art" of Boxing, you saying it without saying it because who else in the game that is VERY publicized, who else have you hated on me for respecting? accusing me of wages and payrolls when I was just giving you the truth that you can't accept.. with that being said yo Floyd Mayweather Jr has a winning style, you might not jump off your seat in excitement but I bet you one thing you will be watching.. he a smart businessman so for those who love skillful Boxing, fans of the sport like me, he caters to us and to those who like the fighting and not the art like you he talks **** so you can watch with the sole intentions of seeing fall, if and when he falls he finds ANOTHER reason to get them 54$, something he will say or do will have you watching the fight..

even people who DON'T watch Boxing get catered to because he did Dancing With The Stars, don't think that people ain't going to want to see the man they saw dance on a show for them, the reputed bad ass in the ring for what will probably be the 1st time for them, he raises your curiosity BUT once he steps into that ring all that bull**** gets thrown aside, it's just him and his opponent and he NEEDS to apply ALL of the necessary tactics to win, he is a smart ass ***** yo if you can't recognize that then you don't know talent and this is real talk homie.. 100

Sounds like the same kind of **** that kept Jose Armando Santa Cruz from getting a decision over the much more popular Joel Casamayor.
uhhh, do you have a mental disorder? I read your response like 3 times and I just dont get it.

The part I do get, Casamayor, like Mayweather vs DLH, got the fight scored their way because the judges expected Casasmayor to win.

Your whole post before was about how boxing is about entertainment, and it is a "prizefight"...

You flat told me that De La Hoya deserved the fight because he was the aggressor.

All I'm saying is that when you say that fighters get extra points for being exciting and crowd-pleasing, it is the type of **** that makes bad decisions in boxing.

Chavez was the aggressor when he fought Whitaker, and he was clearly more exciting... did Chavez deserve the decision? **** no! Whitaker hit him, and didn't get hit back, but he never really committed to any specific punch.

Seemed earily similar to May 5th, except that Floyd was clearly not as dominant as Whitaker. He still did enough to win the fight though.

Yep. Floyd-Baldo immediately comes to mind. Shameful.

It's a race to death then... you can keep hoping that I die, while AIDS slowly shuts your ass down. Well, not your ass, that needs to be open access for your boy Jay Cutler.
