Its funny when i here these "sweet science aficianados" talk about whats pure boxing and whats not. According to them, "real" boxing consists of staying out of danger while throwing the bare minimum amount of shots possible in order to win. They would call that a "boxing clinic"

If you DIDN'T hit and you Did not get hit you wouldn't win the fight. BOXERS are masters of hitting you and avoiding your shots to land some more.

Basketball anology huh? Shots are scored and blocks aren't? But a team still wins if they only score one shot, and block all their opponents shots right? That is a win of 2-0 right?

So if one fighter lands a few punches, even if they aren't super hard or anything like that, and blocks all of his opponents punches, he still wins right?

Or do you have another ******ed wrinkle of your scoring philosophy?

I mean, you did score Morales-Pacquiao I for Pacquiao, moron.

They will say anything to validate the fetish they have for certain fighters.

There is more to boxing than hit and not get hit, hence judges, hence 8oz gloves and the removal of headgear, hence the term "prize fight", hence the decline in the popularity of boxing now compared with when the label "fight" still matched the sport.

The beauty of boxing is seeing a guy use a defensive move to set up offense.

Seeing a guy avoid a punch, just to continue avoiding punches.....is not boxing at its best. Seeing a guy continually wade into punches isn't, either.

So if you group things such as the term "prizefight", and the popularity of the sport into boxing, in a thread about scoring, that means you think that **** should be used to determine a winner?

Sounds like the same kind of **** that kept Jose Armando Santa Cruz from getting a decision over the much more popular Joel Casamayor.
