Worst comes to worst, the winner will just drop one of the belts and move on to fight another title holder. Belts will not mean **** at that point.
If Wlad vs. Ibragimov happens in February, and Chambers-Povetkin in January-February, they'll just pay Thompson-the-boring-tiger to step aside and forget about him. Wlad vs. Povetkin would be absolutely huge in Germany, while Wlad vs. Thompson would be... boring anywhere.
Exactly, there is no way to hold on to the belts. The IBF will likely work with Wlad as he's fought enough mandatories. The WBO should let him wait on the Thompson fight so he can fight Povetkin/Chambers (one voluntary after winning the title), but if Chagaev comes into the mix, the WBO can go back to being a meaningless belt.
It might. Vitali got the ring belt, cause he fought Sanders who was WBO champ.
It has nothing to do with the belt. Ring rules state that the Ring title will be awarded as a result of a #1 vs. #2 matchup, or under some circumstances a #1 vs. #3 matchup. The ratings are Wlad, Chagaev, then Peter, so those are the only fights that could factor in.

I thought is was because Vitali had a belt and Sanders did(though Sanders was stripped).
HMMM well Iggy fought to a Draw agaisnt Austin... Austin didnt last 2 rounds against Klitschko.. I say Iggy will last 3.. and then It's lights out..
Iggy is fast enough to stay out of the way a little longer than Austin was. But he doesn't have the chin to live through the punishment like Byrd or Brewster.
Also he tends to walk to his left, and he gets hit by straight rights. That's not good for him here.
