It could be the hands. But even Zag stands there and ****s.
Floyd's hiding a chin....

Floyd's chin has taken some hard shots before...
1. Jose Luis Castillo caught him with a monstrous left hook directly on the chin when he was caught on the ropes, and he immediately fired a few counters back at him (First fight).
2. DeMarcus Corley caught him with an overhand shot (the kind that really hurts, but no one throws because it takes 6 months to get there), and he just backed into the ropes, but still had the presence of mind to block the next X amount of shots. Floyd came back and won the round pretty big, because he ended up hurting Corley more. Keep in mind that he rocked Cotto too, who apparantly has now passed the iron chin test for everyone after the Mosley fight.
3. Zab Judah almost knocked his ****ing head off with a straight left in round 4 of their fight. Floyd blocked every shot he threw after that in his "Oh ****! I got this guy hurt!" flurry.
4. He took a flush De La Hoya left hook on the chin in the last few seconds of round 12, and threw back at Oscar immediately after. He wasn't shaken up at all.
I have a hard time believing he has a glass jaw... I think he fights the way he does because he always wins the rounds, because his opponents never land.
It also is not really pleasant to take an unnecessary punch, whether you can take it or not without getting knocked out.
He has also often talked about the longevity of his career. He says the less you get hit, the longer you can stay around the game, which is just true.Comment

Well, if Floyd is covering up a bad chin, then Hatton is going to find it. Floyd thinks this is a show, but Hatton don't know it's a show, he thinks it's a damn fight. It doesn't matter who wins, Floyd is in for the fight of his life. And, if Floyd does win, it'll be like Apollo Creed at the end of his fight with Rocky, "I don't want no rematch.".....that Hatton kid is a beast.Comment

But that is the basic premise of my argument. He is hiding something.
bad hands and a bad chin.Comment

Baldomir can take a hell of a punch, but he has probably ducked a punch in his career before.
There is no need to show how good of a chin you have to be a good boxer (unless you are Ricardo Mayorga apparantly, Forrest II, Trinidad).Comment

Wait, so his chin coming through with flying colors makes you think he has a bad chin, because he doesn't unnecessarily stick it out to get destroyed? That's kind of strange IMO.

And Mayweather has really only 'fought' his opponents at the lighter weights. When he steps up the competition, he coasts to an easy decision. Never steps up the gas and tries to knock guys out. Only in his first EVER PPV fight did he really put his foot on the gas and knock a guy out.Comment

Not saying that, but let's get real. Mayweather's style is extremely negative. He will sometimes trade with you but he wont ENGAGE. There is a difference between trading in spurts and engaging.

My analogy I always use is baseball. Sure, it is more exciting if the team that is winning in the bottom of the 9th walks all the opposing batters until the tying run is on base, but would they ever do that? **** no, because winning > excitement.
Baseball is a sport driven on entertainment too, but no one bitches about that.Comment

Better safe than sorry IMO.

And boxing is a sport for the fans. Fans drive the live and pay per view gates. And fans want their champs to face the best out there. Fans want fighters to fight in an exciting fashion.
why do you think Gatti made so much money with 7 losses, man? Why do you think Paz was a star? And Mancini? And Chacon?
Why were these guys making so much money, yet B class fighters like sharmba mitchell, derrick gainer (just an example) etc, who are good but lack the exciting fights make damn peanuts. Peanuts, man. It's because they are exciting and they are characters.Comment
