It just depends what spin you put on it. You could say that Mayweather has won the majority of his fights at light welterweight by stoppage but alternatively you could say that Ricky Hatton has fifiteen times as many stoppages at light welterweight than Mayweather.

I am bumping all these threads especially if Floyd get's the TKO/Ko with the former being more likely.

            Chances of a KO...hmmm

More like a TKO if it doesnt go the distance. I wont put Hatton in the same bracket as Gatti, however, I can see a very similar outcome esp if Hatton continues to come forward & press the action for 12rds. For those who keep saying Mayweather runs, you're either hatin', blind, or just plain idiotic. Mayweather spends the the bulk of his fights near the ropes or in the pocket (if near the center of the ring). Anyone w/ his immense skill level would be a fool to stand toe to toe fight after fight (sure, it may be crowd pleasing..but it'll definitely shorten your career). Running??..allow me to ask a question..was Cotto running the last 2..3 rds of his bout with Mosley or was he boxing?? (perhaps a bit of both cause Ive yet to see Cotto going backwards against any other fighter he's faced..Im convinced Shane had him leanin' so instead of risking getting caught again..he chose to play it safe..surprisingly enough..he boxes quite well). At any rate, Ive said before that I give Hatton only a puncher's chance but seeming as how Ive yet to see Floyd ever seriously hurt or sprawled on the canvas..I cant see him beating down Mayweather in his prime. His pressure style is the only option he has b/c he's definitely not going to try to outbox him. That being said..Im sure the Mayweather camp is preparing for that strategy. Hell, Floyd trains like a beast anyway..so all Roger has to do is keep throwing fresh sparring partners at him during rds or between rds. What makes pressure fighters so effective is they either break you down physically (thru fatigue or attrition) or they do so mentally. Ive never seen Mayweather winded in a bout..let alone fatigued..and there's no way you're gonna break Mayweather down mentally..he's too good..and too egotistical. I also dont see Hatton landing enough effective blows to slow him down either. Its gonna be a tough night for Ricky. If he doesnt do any damage in the 1st 4 or 5 rds, he's gonna be milk toast cause by then Mayweather would have made any adjustments necessary to cruise or pound his way to a victory.

As for Floyd's k-o abilities, he's done quite well against fighters his size or smaller at 140 & 147. He stopped both Gatti & Mitchell. Im almost certain he wouldve put a severe beating on Zab if it werent for the low blow fiasco (trust & believe that foul was intentional..Judah knew he was in trouble). No one is gonna k-o Baldomir (he's probably got reinforced steel plates in his head). Lastly, De la hoya had a significant size advantage the night they fought so the chances of stopping him were slim to known. Other than B-Hop..no one has ever stopped Oscar. At some pt..I expect Mayweather to start letting his combos go because you've got to do something significant to make any good pressure fighter start thinking twice & backing up.

floyd has more fights at 147 than hatton does and more fights at 154 anyway the point i'm trying to make is that floyd was knocking opponrnts out at 140 and hatton is a 140 fighter so y is it outragious to think that floyd can knock him out

Excellent post. Small point - how much of an effect, if any, did you think De La Hoya's body punches had on Mayweather?

It's not outrageous but I would say it is unlikely.
