In a interview with El Nuevo Dia today, in a mall in Puerto Rico, Miguel Cotto, WBA Welterweight Champion, set the conditions for a possible Margarito fight.

"We've never said no the company (Top Rank) and I dont think we'll ever get to the point to tell Arum no about a rival. " said Cotto.

After his victory over Shane Mosley, Cotto heard Margarito challenging him toa fight. At that moment Cotto refused to fight him because Margarito let the opportunity to fight him months ago go.

According to Cotto and his workteam, a Margarito fight is just not lucrative enough at this stage in his career. He believes he needs to go for the bigger fighters, like Hatton, PBF or Oscar. Margarito, like Cotto, is in Top Rank, and Top Rank is inclined to make that fight happen should neither Hatton, PBF or ODLH dont wish to fight Cotto.

But today, Cotto said that if he gets paid enough money, like if he were fighting a bigger opponent, he'll take a Margarito fight.

"There has to be some guarantees that i'll get paid for fighting lesser opponents, both economically and boxistically, for me to fight Antonio." said Cotto."

"It is of our understanding that for us to take a Margarito fight, there must be some very favorable conditions, on our side, in order to make it happen. We can't just point blank say no, but in order for it to happen, we better get some guarantess" said Evangelista Cotto.

Guys, this is interpreted, dont give me **** If I got some words wrong or anything, im just trying to do us all a favor.

    LMAO!

Well, at least he didn't just say no, at least he's thinking about it.

He shouldnt underestimate Margarito either. He matches up perfect with Cotto. I do agree that Marg should be fourth on the list though. Cotto did his part, Margarito ****ed up his.
it's not that,i think this is just with margo, fact is what does margo offer?nothing.cintron offers more and he was ko'ed by the guy.and if he offered floyd 8 why not offer cotto something like 6?

If Cotto "owned" Margarito, I'd be shocked. Seriously if he can do that, I cant see anyone not named Floyd Mayweather beating him.

I understand your first point. With big money comes big bills my man. Cotto has spend 80% of this earnings in Beach Resorts and apartment buildings which he has for rent right now all over the island. Also has like 7 gasoline stations and many other real state investments. You would not believe how he lives, like a normal upper middle class person, sure he has two mercedes, but I mean...hello..it's to be expected. So he needs to keep that cash flow coming...

Marg had his chance and he has to wait in line. With no belt as leverage he has to take what is given to him.
Either one can get it, those are some fine piece of ass!

Cottos insane, Margarito is a bad style for him to fight. Cottos jab is amazing but I don't think Cottos jab can keep a fighter like Margarito off him all night long.

This fight should be on Cotto terms, I think Margarito has to take what he can get to be honest. If he wants to prove himself then he will.
