Again, he does not need Calzaghe and can retire so at this point, I only expect him to be smart.
    Where is Hopkins a bigger name?? In Philly?
    1. the most American boxing-"stars" are not crossover stars like SRL, HEarns or Hagler were, or like DLH is.
    Joe can make more money in GB than Hopkins can make in the US? He earned more money against Kessler than Hopkins did against Winky, so what is the point? Hopkins wants homecrowd-advantage and a 60-40 split. Joe has the momentum, Joe is in one of the best three p4p fighters, Joe is a much bigger star in the UK than Hopkins will ever be in the US.
    Calzaghe sold over 50k tickets @US-primetime!!!! in the UK. The cheapest tickets were over 100$. Hopkins could't draw 50K if he paid them to come.
    And now he thinks he should fight in a stadium, after selling less than 10k (with over 1000 tickets for free) against Winky.
    I am sure Bernard doesn't want the fight. HE is just a bit of an average talent who become "great" by a very intelligent way of match-making. He would never had a chance against guys like RJJ or Calzaghe. So he always priced himself out (50-50 against RJJ after he earned 300k in his first fight after Tito hahahaha) and kept his eyes on smaller guys like DLH or Winky or a shot one-hit-wonder like Tarver.

    @sono
    Calzaghe needs Bernard but Nard doens't need Calzaghe?? Calzaghe could fight against Woods and Froch for a purse over 3M pounds (over 6M $) without a doubt. He is now a much bigger star in the UK than he was before. So he could make a 60-40 oder 70-30 against Woods and would earn a massive purse.
    Which other fight Bernard has??? REmatch against Winky or Tarver?

      Calzaghe is an undefeated unified champion. Hopkins is an over the hill old man with a boring style, who has been beaten four times (two in his last four!??!). Calzaghe makes more money fighting in the UK than Hopkins does fighting in the US where the big money is supposed to be. Calzaghe draws MUCH bigger crowds than Hopkins.

      Come again, how does Calzaghe need Hopkins more? How is Hopkins entitled to home advantage and a 60/40 split? If Tard Nard wants the fight, STFU and challenge the champion. If not, STFU and retire already.

        Against Calzaghe is where the Bernard Hopkins fairy tale ends. This coming from a HUGE Executioner fan.

          That is a logical claim by Hopkins.

            alot more fighters will respect ricky more and the fans in the uk respect hatton more because he has gone over to america and done his country proud. calzaghe can say all he wants that their was no one to fight or they backed out but the FACT is he is 35 and never fought out of his back yard which if you want to be recognized as the best fighter around is a absolute joke.

              That's not quite true, Calzaghe did defend his title in Germany. He also agreed to fight Kessler in Denmark which would have happened had Palle not backed down.

                  Hopkins is a cerbal fighter. He fights you in the physiologically before entering in the ring.

                  Never beat on Hopkins even though he is 43 and against Calzaghe he is a risky fighter to bet against
