Are you people out of your freaking mind? the man has been fighting in the pro's since he was 15 ****ing years old, fighting men double his size. A 15 year experience in the pros, having to crawl and battle your way through to become the fighter he is now and this is the respect he gets from the supposedly "Boxing Fans" you guys are a ****ing joke. If Margarito was a "slow ass bum" as most of you ignorant ****s like to coin him as, he wouldn't be in the stage he is in at right now. I wonder what you people will say after he takes away Cotto's crown. And Evil Genious you are a ****ing moron bro, Cintron is arguably the hardest puncher in the Welter division, are you obtuse to think that Cotto punches harder than freaking Cintron? please bro, get your ****ing brain checked homes.
Homie, I feel ya..IMO Margoito punches are slow because he throws looping punches...Fighters seem to get out of the way of looping punches. If his punches were straight then maybe you can make a case...but his punches are not nearly as fast as Cotto, Mosley, Floyd or any other Welterweight. So thats the reason why MOST observers call Margorito slow...this isnt knocking Margorito by anymeans.

people go overboard though. If his punches were so slow, he wouldn't have the record for most punches thrown in a 12 round fight, he wouldn't have landed as many punches in 6 rounds against Cintron than most fighters do in a 12 Round bout. Yes his hand speed is not the best, but these people try to act like he's the slowest thing ever, when the facts (punchstats etc) show that that's simply impossible.

If Cotto decides to stand and go toe to toe with Margorito, then yes Cotto will taste his first defeat (which I seriously doubt) Now if Cotto was to circle around Margorito...jabbing the **** out of him and outbox him... then its a clear cut UD.

From what I've seen from Cotto lately.... I seriously doubt Cotto will be a damn fool to trade with the "iron chin" Margorito. He will use lateral movement to keep the slow Margorito from setting up his punches.

IMO, Cotto will beat the brakes off of Margorito...Margorito will have his moments but Cotto will just be to much for the slow Margorito.(just my opinion)
Cotto can't box. You've seen him box vs Mosley (age 36) and Gomez. Against Zab he couldn't do that and when he tried he was getting beat up (before the low blows). Also i don't know where you guys saw Cotto's lateral movement i swear it's funny! Cotto sure can move sideways vs Gomez but so could i and probably you. Lateral movement takes alot of detail footwork and timing it's not something you say "ok, now i move to his right to avoid the right hand"...
Cotto will have to withstand whatever Margarito's got for him, bet on it.
For me the biggest question here is will Cotto tire again as he did vs Mosley? Because he IS going backwards in this fight and i can already imagine Cotto being hurt and backing down, then it will be a slaughter until it's stopped by the ref. You are delusional if you think Cotto can bully Margarito around. Even more if you think Cotto will box Margarito.

As soon as I read "Cotto can't box", your credibility went down the toilet. If his boxing skills impressed Shane Mosley, that's good enough for me.

I'm not saying he slow as a turtle but his punches can be seen( his punches can be picked off and blocked) Yes he does have a high punch output. I'm cant dispute that. I'm just saying in some fights with quicker fighter Margorito will look very average(I'm talking about average handspeed)(just my opninion)

Margarito will be a tough fight, but I think Cotto will get too him. He's just too skilled.

There's no way in hell Cotto hits harder than Cintron. He is all-around better though.

No not you, I agree it's fair to call him average. But those who try to discredit him claim he's in a league of his own. Fighters with a lot of handspeed will make him look average in that department, but that's not his fight anyway, he doesn't try to beat you to the punch, he wants at least two of the four he throws to land while you landed the first in the exchange.

I agree with you Ray, you are damn cool in my book bortha thank you for posting a plain and basic common sense reply.

Margarito is what it is, he's a brawler by heart. He's main objective is to come at you for 12 rounds, non stop, throwing punches, cutting the ring effectively and pressuring you all night. He is not a pretty boxer by any means, he loops his punches like you said, but the ones that do land seem to hurt like a *****. I have no doubt in my mind Tony will walk away the winner that night, it won't be easy or pretty, both fighters are going to get hit hard as ****, and although Cotto has an edge against Tony on speed, I really don't see Cotto able to withstand the pressure Margarito will bring to him. He's never been pressured as he will surely be that night, he's always been the bully and the aggressor, now the tables will turn.

It won' be easy for both men, both fighters are great at what they do, but I'm confident enough to say it again, Tony will walk away victorious in July.

Come on man....I'm not the biggest Cotto fan but I do know that Cotto can box. He may not have the footwork of Floyd but to discredit him like that is just ****ed up man...I'm just keeping it real..thats all! He can box...IS he the best boxer in the game?..NO.. Can Cotto box?...YES..So to sit here and say that Cotto can box is just really non-sense man.
