Not as popular as it was during Eubank/Benn era. But it is receiving good coverage now, especially after Calzaghe's win. The Calzaghe fight was shown in full on the BBC this afternoon straight after a football show, which is excellent.

Calzaghe, Hatton and Khan are all very famous.

I rather see a more diverse list of champions then just rfrom 1 or 2 countries. Britain is a force right now for sure and nothing is wrong with competition.

Boxing is currently doing well in the UK.

The second Hatton loses to Mayweather we will lose 50% of our boxing fans.

I hate the fareweather fans who support only the big names in British boxing, and watch 5 fights a year.

I think the statement about Hatton is utter pish and the comment about 'fair-weather fans' is unfair. People are entitled to watch whatever the hell they want. If they only watch five fights a year then that says more about the product than it does about them.

I'd dream to fight in the UK just because of the crowds. That in itself would be worth the pay cut in there was one. Also worth it even if they were booing me.

Great stuff, hopefully Hatton can get himself a green belt too

British sports fans always travel well. The number of times you see brits practically out number home fans in major football tournaments is just amazing. Its the same with boxing. How many thousands will travel to see Hatton?

What annoys me about the "fair weather" fans is that they are totally clueless about the sport of boxing on a whole, they read the paper and the paper and it tells them "Hatton is best boxer in the world" and they believe it.

Case in point: I was on a site the other day and there was a poll running, "Who will win out of Hatton and Mayweather" out of 30 odd votes 6 of them were for Mayweater to win.

When Hatton is beat on Dec 8th it will be considered a big upset in the eyes of the casual fan.

Good point. Rangers this week set a new record for the largest support travelling to a Champions League away game when 20,000 made the trip to Barcelona.
