the ring gave the title to roy for having the ibf/wba/wbc belts, not for beating the linear champ or it being a #1 vs. #2 matchup.

michalczewski and hill were the top 2 light heavys when they fought. jones had beaten mccallum and then got dq'd against griffin when michalczeswki beat quicksilver.

Technically its Eredi, who beat Gonzalez who decisioned Dariusz.
However, Roy the Ring champ and the more dominant champ, so it would seem like it went from Roy to Tarver to Hopkins.
The WBO is weak, and Eredi's competition is unnaceptable.

i never said roy ducked darius. i blame both guys for the fight not happening.

this is not an argument about who was the greater fighter (obviously rjj), it is about who was the lineal champ.

michalczewski was the lineal champ and was until he lost to gonzalez. gonzalez lost to erdei. hill and michalczewski were the top 2 light heavys at the time and fighting for the wbo, ibf, and wba titles. the #1 and #2 fighting each other should fill the vacancy. unless you think griffin should have been #2. it's hard to rank jones #2 when he got himself dq'd in the last fight at the time hill and dm fought each other.

you only lose linear titles when you lose it in the ring, retire, or abandon the division. foreman was lineal champ even though he avoided the top dangerous hws and fought guys like schulz and grimsley. u don't lose your lineal title because u avoid someone.

Also, The Ring called Roy the light heavy champ b/c he unified the 3 main titles (wbo didn't count), but even the editor Nigel Collins said if the same thing happened today, they would call DM the champ, not RJJ.
