Well it would make sense in a way. If their not sure about his chin at heavyweight better he get's knocked out or stopped by a heavyweight champion than a journeyman, as it wouldn't have as much damage to his confidence and he could then concentrate on his career at cruiser.

If he does get that HW shot he has nothing to lose does he and if he wins well that's an added bonus.

You demonstrate my point. We don't know that he wouldn't lose to a journeyman, so why would we want one of our champs to waste a fight on him.

Not to mention other LEGITIMATE heavyweights waiting in line for a shot, like a 34 year old Tua, with 3 wins this year, on the comeback.

Yeah especially if that bum only had one loss in his 39 fight record which was to Fraudley and was also giving Fraudley Problems before a premature stoppage in the 8th round.

Haye knocked him down three times in the first round.

Look up Tye Fields, 39-1 with 35 KOs, more than 20 of them in the first round. The guy is a BUM and a complete joke. And ONE fight doesn't qualify you for a title shot, sorry.

I think it's wrong and unfair even if he wins the CW title, what right does that give him to challenge for the HW title when he hasn't proved himself there.

That was one of the reasons I went off of Sugar Ray Leonard. He used to be one of my favourite fighters. He comes out of retirement and gets a shot at Hagler which I did cheer him on for, then after winning steps up and gets a shot a Donny Lalondes light heavy title. That just ain't fair. What with that and the fact that SRL is a hypocrite because he did adverts against drug abuse for kids and said always say no and then does ******* himself. Complete hypocrite and got title shots because of his name and not what he achieved at the respective weight divisions.

Exactly, that's why we have joke fights like De La Hoya/Hopkins or Trinidad/Jones. I didn't realize that SRL fought at light heavy, that's pretty bad.

The main question is, who of the current champions will waste their optional fight on Haye, who is completely unknown around the world, except by hardcore boxing fans? His team should at least engage in conversation with the current champions before pulling empty promises out of their asses.
