It's a FOTY contender but I don't think it'll get FOTY honors. I got Marquez vs Vazquez 2 and Pavlik vs Taylor ahead of this fight.

But it was definitely a very good action fight. Both fighters showed their heart in round one which was amazing.

Revs....all Bika did with Calzaghe was go the distance. The scores were 117-110 if I recall.

I'd say the fight was better than Cotto-Judah. But I don't think it was better than Pavlik-Taylor, and certainly not MUCH better. Codrington-Bika was more action-packed, but all things considered, Pavlik-Taylor was the better fight. An undefeated challenger coming off the canvas to knock out the undefeated champion and take his undisputed title in the process? That's a thing of beauty.

Marquez-Vazquez II may trump them both though.

If your looking for the highest level of boxings fight of the year its Vazquez/Marquez.

If your talking straight entertainment (still a high level, it was no club fight) it was tonight's Bika/Codrington. In part because they are both bigger than Vazquez/Marquez and in another because of the winging hooks and punches both were throwing and landing. The people that I was with were like "damn, they want that money bad."

But it was depressing to see a bunch of cowards sucker punching each other (knicks/nuggets game last year) open sportscenter instead of a great slug-fest between two guys showing unbelievable heart.

yeah I have pav / taylor as fight of the year. Much more on the line, much more at stake. This was def what the contender needed though after grady brewer won it last year.

This was MUCH better than Judah/Cotto. For me.
