Hopkins was actually an underdog against Tito who'd just beat Joppy for the WBA. He also beat Glen Johnson while he was still undefeated and not just beat DLH, but knocked him out for the WBO, before moving up and beating Tarver and Winky. Winky has only been 6 pounds under Hop their whole respective careers, there was no weight issue there as much as Bernard is just more disciplined. Bernard's resume shuts all over Calz, too on better mandatories, and just has an over all better legacy.. Hands down, Joe has fought no one compared to Hops..

The fact that you include DLH, a former super feather champ, as some sort of accomplishment, is amazing. IF Tito, a welterweight, was a fav against Bernard, towards the end of Hopkins' reign, that proves what kind of bums he had been defending his title against. Owned in his prime by RJJ and beaten TWICE by an exposed fighter in Taylor. And Tarver wasn't anyting to brag about at the time he beat him either.

are you sayin hopkins isnt as good as everyone thinks?

if so, you're straight up crazy. b-hop IS a legend and he is one of the greatest middleweights of all time. maybe, MAYBE calzaghe beats him now, but thats becuase hopkins is 43 years old, and time is catching up with him, but i would still give him a good chance at winning against joe.

I suppose that my point is that there are certain parallels between the two respective careers. It's just that Joe is not getting the credit that hopikins got when he beat Trinidad and even Tarver.

It really pisses me off when i see quotes from him saying that Joe should have to go to America to fight Hopkins because he is the 'living legend'. He has accomplished no more than Joe in his career and he serverely overestimates his drawing power in America. The only reason that his fights with DLH and Trinidad were big fights were due to the oppostion not him. His style of fighting is boring at best.

And that bull**** about Trinidad being favourite doesn't wash......... cause Lacy was favoured over Calzaghe and Kessler was an even split wit journalists. They were both at the perfect fighting weight and in their prime. Was DLH, Trinidad, Tarver, Johnson (before his prime), Wright?????

e was in 2 life and death struggles with Taylor who fought better against Pavlik than he did against Bernard and was knocked out. So if Taylor proved to be overrated then what does that make Bernard????

Eubank would have beaten Tito, Wright & Oscar & Tarver
Kessler would have beaten Tito , Wright, Oscar & Tarver at the same stage Borenard beat him at 37yrs old inactive & Unfocused.
Lacy would have beaten Tito & Oscar I give Wright & Tarver a Chance.

Joe's resume is light years better than Bernard's - Woodhall, Reid, Sheika, Veit, Brewer, Mitchell, Lacy, Kessler, you can even throw in Eubank for a name

Remember, Echols gave Hopkins his toughest fight and Brewer was robbed blind against Echols

Trinidad, De La Hoya and Wright were big names in American boxing and to boxing fans but they were all blown-up little guys and old guys

It's easy to say he is a 'legend' but look at his record.................. Its there and speaks for itself. Look at the fighters he fought.............. i'm sorry but his body of work does not suggest in any way that he is a legend. Yes he has longevity, but is that enough??? The only fight when he fought someone in their prime and the same weight as himself was RJJ and he looked ordinary. And you can't used his age as a factor now becasue that implies that he was better when he fought jones, the fact is that his prime came late in terms of his age.

For those who don't know, Woodhall was on the verge of being robbed blind against Keith Holmes if he lasted the distance with his dislocated shoulder/elbow, even the American commentary had him 'three or four rounds up' (look at the scorecards)

Richie was kept on the WBC #1 spot for nearly 18 months by a certain Mr King, when he went into surgery to mend his arm suddenly King gave him the shot!
