Will Mosley's Warrior Spirit Backfire On Him?

Cotto fans think Shane is going to be on his bike. Right?

    Not likely.

Mosley stood in front of the larger, depreciated Vargas and allowed Fernando to give him a fairly spirited showing in their first bout. Shane took some lumps in that fight, and stopped punching completely on multiple occasions under the strength of the bigger man.

Now, that may have been a worse version of Shane physically, but it was the same guy mentally. The same Shane Mosley who has gone out of his way to prove he can stand and trade up in weight with just about anyone he's ever been in front of.. The tough guy. For better or worse, always the tough guy.

He's got some miles on him.. He's facing the sledgehammer surgeon..

At least one respected Boxing writer has questioned if Shane Mosley's bravado will be his downfall. What's it gonna be?

This fight for me is the hardest to call. Mosley is a complete fighter much like Calzaghe and can **** with most, but can he with Cotto. He needs to box Cotto at times and also try and push him back and hurt him at times so Cotto doesn't get too confident. Initially I was going with Cotto for the win but now I'm not so sure. It's not often I say this but for this fight I might just sit on the fence and just enjoy watching it.

You gotta wonder what Arum and his matchmakers were thinking..
They went out of their way for a very long time to keep Cotto away from punchers and brawlers and now they're putting him in with a guy who is essentially both.

      They're definately rolling the dice.

I think they have to for fear of getting frozen out of the picture. With all these other big fights happening it's the only way for Cotto to truly establish himself as a major player. Maybe they are thinkinh along the lines of Kessler and his promoters that Mosley is now old and past his prime and ready for the taking.

It occured to me immediately, but it took reading it a few places for me to confront the uncomfortable reality that the old man was engaging in some fairly rigorous sparring one week before the fight.

I thought pops was telling us the only problem with being a geezer was the recovery time.. Shane is already on one.

Agreed, they may also be cashing the kid out.

That depends on two things; how much faith they have in Cotto's chin, and how good Cotto's chin actually is. They're businessmen, the former is sure to be harsher than the latter. They haven't promoted him with faith.

The way they were matching him with Branco, Malignaggi, and Urkal is embarrassing. Looking at those fights it's like a body builder in with a series of Mr. Puniverse contestants. They must have really thought his jaw was **** to be doing that.

One of Shane Mosley's sparring partners Yuken Andio was working for Cotto recently and was thrown out of Cotto's camp for hurting Miguel with 20 ounce gloves. No bull****.

I think People are underestimating Cotto's chin he tokk some wicked uppercuts from Judah & although he was on the deck against Torres he never looked in that much trouble where the referee had reason to jump in and stop the fight

he may have the same sort of durabilty that Tito had where he can be hurt but he has the capacity to recover quickly like Tito

My head says cotto, but im gonna stick with Mosley in this one, i just think Mosely is gonna be too slick and quick for Cotto, an unfocused Judah had cotto in trouble in several points in that fight, even though cotto proved he can box his way into an opponent with jab and build on that.

I just feel mosley has the speed and power to decision cotto.
