the noly crit i could give hopkins is that he has beaten some great names but i feel they werent fighting at their natural weight. wright and oscar. he probably fought them for the money.
I can respect this, but why is this mostly a problem? No one gives Hagler any **** for beating Hearns or Duran when they were basically fighting above their weightclasses.

In Calzaghe, what I see is a guy who throws a lot of weak punches, goes backwards against offense, and leaves himself wide open when trading shots. Granted he's a great fighter and an accomplished Champion, but I think Hopkins will **** him up, badly at that.

Most people here would probably disagree with that statement, but those are the same people who've been waiting for Hopkins to retire for years. With his unorthodox style, Hopkins makes very active opponets inactive by using bait tactics. With his roughhouse inside fighting, Calzaghe won't be throwing nearly as much against a guy like Hopkins.

I see Hopkins fighting a very brilliant/dirty affair that will probably be one of so ugly it'd make Hopkins/Wright look like a masterful performance.

Still I think Hopkins will beat Calzaghe and beat him badly at that.
You forget that Zag throws 1,000 punches per rounds...and guess what champ?? He's southpaw!!!! And he isn't great for having out of this world boxing ability, or out of this world speed, or out of this world punching power. He's great because he's a master at what he deos and a great judger of distance and timing. He has a feel for the sport that I feel is unmatched by anyone today. He is what I imagine Harry Greb fights like.

Your post is wrongm on so many levels.

No way! Calzaghe is prob the best pound for pound boxer on the planet now! If this fight happens and i think it will Calzaghe will out class Hopkins no problem. The guy has been champion for 10 years and no one has gave him any problems. Lacy was meant to be his hardest fight and he killed him. Calzaghes hardest fight was eubank 10 years ago and is alot better than he was back then as some others have pointed out he can adapt to any style and always finds away to win he is like the real life rocky balboa. Hopkins is a legend but is in his 40's now and even if hopkins was younger calzaghe would still beat him. In what i think will b calzaghes last match calzaghe wins 12 round decision in style!

Well lucky for Joe Hopkins isnt 100% vs southpaws....

Edit: I realise that Hopkins is in fact 100% vs southpaws, I was being sarcastic.

With all of the Calzaghe ball sucking going on around here, I just figured I'd go ahead and bump this to keep **** in perspective.

Especially since 'Nard's "scared" of Joe and all.....

With the confrontation at the Mayweather/Hatton weight in, I'm even more positive Hopkins will win. Exposing British fighters is a National past time here, Mayweather did the busines on Hatton last night, next year Hopkins will seal the deal.

You still supporting that little *****?

Hatton-Mayweather or weigh-in controversies have nothing to do with this. On his best day, 'Nard couldn't carry Joe's jockstrap. It's two completely different levels of ability.
