I believe that the Mayweather-De La Hoya fight will, in time, be viewed as the threshold of an upward curve in boxing's fortunes. The negative reaction to that fight was mostly found in boxing circles and the supposed enthusiasts of the sport were the very people responsible for painting a negative picture of the event.

I don't think boxing is on the way up. For that to happen the whole boxing world would have to be restructured, and there would have to be better fights aired in prime time.

Boxing has been immensely popular in the past under the current system so why can't it happen again?

When i came back on the boards i was very, very surprised to hear that most everybody disliked the Delahoya v. Mayweather fight. Im in a small circle who actually enjoyed the fight and i was one of the millions who ordered the fight. Though i have to admit i was one of the millions who also said i wasn't going to order the fight but i ended up ordering the fight.

I don't know what some people were expecting from the fight. I went in with my eyes wide open - I expected to see a good, high-quality fight between two good, high-quality fighters and that is exactly what I got. If they had put on the greatest fight of all time that night some people would still have walked away feeling short-changed.
