Seriously - Is Calzaghe the greatest Super Middleweight of all time?

With fighters like Chris Eubank, Nigel Benn, Steve Collins, Lindell Holmes and Gerald McClellan etc plying their trade around the Super Middle divison and others who have fought through the division and moved on i.e. Roy Jones and James Toney.

Is Calzaghe the greatest actual Super Middle of them all?

21 defences, unbeaten and still going strong at almost 36. He has fought and beaten a number of former World Champions in:

Eubank - WBO + WBC
Reid - WBF, WBC and IBO
Woodhall - WBC
Brewer - IBF
Mitchell - WBA
Veit - WBC

And he has fought and defeated two prime World Champions in Lacy and Kessler.

Therefore seriously has there ever been a better Super Middleweight, if so why?

A couple of years back his record although impressive lacked a vital ingredient i.e. a prime and dangerous current Champion.

Since then he has added two of these to his resume, that in itself doesn't tell the whole story though because he absolutely dominated Lacy and was a class above him, with Kessler once again he showed that he has unbelievable ability but add that to the fact he showed fabulous fitness, stamina and speed given the fact that he is almost 36 years of age.

He is easily the greatest Super Middle of all time in my book. Yes Toney and Jones boxed in this division but they moved through, Joe has cleared out the division.

No doubt, Joe Calzaghe is the best Super Middleweight in the history of it's divison. No one can take that away from him!

Fair enough.

I think though at the age he is he will be looking for a real big name just to finish with a big cash fight or two.

He was almost certainly move up to L/Heavy and try to entice Jones or Hopkins.

Pavlik or Miranda would be good fights but I think Calzaghe is finished with the Middleweight divisions.
