    I'm a bit nervous now.

I've followed both Joe Calzaghe and Ricky Hatton for about a decade now. They are each my favourite fighters and I find that I always get quite nervous and get some doubts before they fight, however confident I am in their ability. I feel sure that Calzaghe is a better fighter than Kessler, but what if age has caught up to him? What if Kessler has put together a masterplan? What if Kessler hits a lucky punch? What if he is simply outskilled? It all runs through your head before a big fight like this, it adds to the occasion for you as an invested spectator.

I dont even want a great fight or anything. I'd happily see it over in one round with a stoppage for Calzaghe, or an incredibly one-sided fight. I just want him to win, he's one of my few sporting heroes. I just hope that if he does win, it isnt through a questionable stoppage cos I'd like to see him finally get some credit around here.

Whatever the result, I will always respect Calzaghe for the incredible career he has produced, regardless of what the skeptics on this forum try to tell me and I will always support him. Win or lose for Kessler, I am very impressed by how he has conducted himself in the build up to the fight. I wish him all the best with his career in the future.

Lets hope that this is a good one. I'm going for a Calzaghe stoppage.

You mean you are PRAYING for a Calzaghe stoppage. Hey man I see no problem with you having so much respect and adimration for a fighter like Cal who is a class act as well as a talented fighter. After tonight he should be getting plenty of respect from every fan.

        I like Calzaghe too.
only problem i have is he has suffered 2 knockdowns in the last 3 years, he has never been knocked down before that, even in the amateurs.
I think time is catching up, might not be Kessler that does it but its going to be someone who finishes him and hard if he doesn't retire soon.
        Good career though.

As for hatton, i think his career is over after the beating he is going to take.
I hope he will make plenty of money for this fight.

Can I ask why Hatton will retire if he loses to floyd?
I mean why do boxers quickly retire if they lose 1 fight?
whats the big deal in losing 1 fight,? why does that have such a devastating impact on a fighter's attitude?

Win, Lose or Draw, Calzaghe should be respected. BTW Mik this thing goes through my head as well when any of my favourites fight and right now its on. If Calzaghe beats Kessler in a convincing fashion then no one can talk **** about him. if Kessler wins then its because he is the better fighter, either way Kessler is young, if he loses he will come back strong, he is a very good fighter, both of them are good fighters.

Very few ATGs have not been knocked down. Getting off the canvas to win is the true mark of a champion. I wouldn't worry about the knockdowns. The real concern for Calzaghe, IMO, is the age factor. Is this the fight where he grows old? If it is, then Kessler is too good not to win.

I see your point but in this case its happening as he gets older.
both happened after his 30s, he has been in a lot of wars i think its catching up now.

There should be no worries as Kessler ring intelligence and very acurate counter shots will difuse Calzaghe. This shouldn;t even be considered an upset but a Kessler vicotory is in the bag. I am sorry Mik, I like Calzaghe a lot but this is Kessler's fight. Yesterday I was watching Joe vs Omar Sheika, today Joe vs Jeff Lacy. Kessler presents a nightmare of a match-up for Joe. Respect though!
