I gotta say Mayweather with marquez close behind, that fight with Pacman was superb to turn it around.
I have never seen caldron fight so i can't say whether he is or not.

The best counterpuncher I ever saw is a tie between Kostya Tszyu and Evander Holyfield....hands down. Floyd is terrific as well...truly. But, he doesn't follow up with power. Tszyu knocked their asses out with that counter right hand. It was a truly great punch.

Here's one that hasn't been said... Shannon Briggs. The 12th round against Lyakhovich was just him using a counter straight right that took Lyakhovich out.

hmmmm that seems to be an easy one..as the only fighter I ever saw in history whose counter was sooo fast and soo powerful was Roy Jones. Fighters stopped punching for fear of the counter.

this ****er could counterpunch off of the ropes or in the middle of th ering. an great example would be in the 5th round of his fight with oscar where floyd countered oscar twice as oscar came in. another fight is the n'dou fight where he countered him all night and knocked him out with a counterpunch perfectly timed. floyd could counter off of a blocked shot very fast also. watch his fight with chavez where he counter uppercutted him. and let's not forget the fight with gatti and how he countered him a teh most fluently thrown left hook i've seen this decade. it was so well timed and thrown with so much ease and poise, and this was in the 3rd round i believe. how about his fight with corrales where he countered him easy as hell. his fight with judah, where he countered over zab;s jab with his own jab and buckled judah in the 2nd round near the start of the round. also, in the 6th or 7th round where he countered judah's combination with a vicious hook to judah's body and of course he sent judah back a few steps. baldomir was countered many times in their fight.

i haven't for a long time seen a fighter counter from so many angles and from so many positions like i've seen floyd do. i have all of his fights and this man was born to counter punch. he is ahead of his time.

some other great counterpunchers are toney, who was nothing short of amazing, and ivan calderon who is a vicous counterpuncher. oscar was great as well. winky is good, of course sweet pea and leonard are amongst the greatest, and ali, and holyfield was a splendid counterpuncher. floyd patterson should be mentioned. this man counterpunched amazingly and roy jones is in my top 10 for sure.

oh yeah, and floyd is also a very accurate counterpuncher.

Does this have anything to do with you picking Floyd......pbftxrs316

If Shawn says that about Calderon, then you can bet it's a valid observation. I myself cannot recall seeing that fighter at work.

He's got nearly all the tools, I agree. He does not only counter punch, he attacks when needed . In the early rounds (2nd and 3rd?) against Hugo Cazares, he even led with an uppercut (!) at least thrice, as I recall.

What he is sorely in short supply of is power (6 KO's in 29 wins).

He reminds me of IBHOFer Nicolino Locche who had only 14 KO's in 117 wins. Locche was given the moniker, "Untouchable". I think that applies too to Calderon, rather than his current, "Iron Boy".

In my eyes, JMMarquez added enormously to his creds just hours ago.
