By Ryan ******** - Crowd favorite Edison "Pantera" Miranda found little resistance in his first fight as a super middleweight, stopping Henry Porras in 2:45 of the fifth round at Hollywood, FL's Seminole Hard Rock Casino. It was a surprisingly disciplined performance from Miranda, whose style had often been compared to both Ricardo Mayorga and a wayward helicopter. Miranda worked well behind the jab, mixing in occasional body shots while making Porras miss in close by rolling away from punches. [details]

Minus the thunder?
Just because he didnt KO him in the first round like Willie Gibbs doesnt take away the thunder!
It took Kessler 9 rounds to stop Porras and Froch it took 8 rounds.
To me it seemed that Pantera was using his 'skills' (yes I said the word) he had been working on in the gym. He looked rather controlled, worked behind a nice long jab, and set his shots. Even when he had Porras cornered he didnt go wild, he looked for his shots and didnt just jump on him.
I say it was a great first performance against a tough chinned opponent. GO MIRANDA! -

It's nice to hear Miranda is starting to work on his boxing skills and applying them in the ring. There's all of a sudden a lot of good fighters at SMW and he's gonna have to use better boxing skills to beat them.Comment
