Potential maybe, but I the kind of fighters that Hearns and Leonard fought and beat are several levels above anyone Kessler can beat at this moment. I remember this kind of hype for Calzaghe-Lacy and Joe said he was going to beat Lacy easy and he did. He says that he will beat Kessler easy, what if he does? Does that make Kessler another overhyped fighter like Lacy? If you break down the records, an arguement can be made that Lacy had just as many good wins as Kessler. Kessler may have a slightly better resume based on his wins over Mundine and Andrade.

Also, Kessler has not been very active for a young fighter. Four fights since 2005 is not great. Calzaghe has had 5 in that time with dozens of injuries like his broken hand over and over again.

What do you mean as far as top ten? Calzaghe fought plenty of mandatories in his run. They must have all been ranked at 1 on the top 10, at least by the WBO.

If there was no supermiddleweights, these guys would fight at lhw at around 170 to 172 pounds and things wouldnt be any different. supermiddles are just shrunken down lhw's to get a little more advantage. calzaghe and kessler easily fit the frame as lhw's. I dont ask these kinds of rediculous questions though. To strictly come out and say 168's are lazy middleweights is very disrespectful in my mind. Its not calzaghe and kesslers fault that thers a division for their perfect weight. But these guys are not lazy middles, they are very talented and dedicated super middles.
