Roy is GOAT. His style was so unique. He fooled around with his opponents all the time making them look like ****. Let alone the KD that he gave to Toney. Nothing tops that. His only loss in his prime was against Griffin and he quickly rematched and KO'd him 1st round leaving no doubt he was top dog.
Your point is totally moot. A 35 year old Roy after Ruiz is like Michael Jordan with the Wizards. Wayne Gretzky with the Rangers...NOT THE PRIME version of the man. Roy at 160-168 was a freak of nature and in a league all his own. SRR is the greatest of all time and certainly the best of his era, but Roy makes SRR look slow, has more power, faster hands and is smart in the ring himself. I say he KO's Sugar Ray Robinson, believe it. Now all the Roy beats all the heavies except Lewis and Tyson is just crazy talk. Roy is 5-10 and naturally an ectomorph with smallish hands.
Couldn't have said it any better
I've seen a lot of fights, a lot of who people consider to be the best of all time, but I don't think any of them could beat a prime RJJ. People seem to forget RJJ called all HW ABC belt holders out for almost half a decade and most of the opposition he'd been "ducking" turned out to eventually be nobodies, frauds (who were later exposed), or guys he'd already beaten (Hopkins, Toney etc.)
RJJ has been criticized for ducking opposition just because he was so good. However prime RJJ looked for the biggest $$ fights available and did his mandatory title defenses. We don't accuse today's p4p best fighters half as much for wanting big money fights (Hopkins, Wright, Mosley, Mayweather, DLH etc.)
Jones Jr. wouldn't have a chance against any elite HW, he was knocked out cold by Tarver and ****in Glen Johnson. Wlad would KO a prime Jones Jr. in 1 or 2 rounds no problem, Jones would be out cold for 2 hours just like he was when Johnson put him to sleep.
i concur with roy not beating wlad. but what about wlad's inferior older brother?
he couldn't even beat chris byrd, who was naturally probably the same size as roy, but ate his way to heavyweight. byrd lacked the gifts of roy, but he still beat wlad's inferior big brother. so roy has a chance here.
what's wrong with his chin? He got knocked out twice by Tarver and by Johnson but that was after coming back down to heavyweight, it looks like he's sorted himself out now. With 54 wins and only two knockouts, you can hardly say he was knocked down all the time!
