Oh ye Collins just timed it right at the end of 2 fighters careers that being Benn and Eubank.
Not my cup of tea but effective with his style, Jones would have cleaned him out.

Why do people like Collins. Because he was as tough as nails and was perhaps the most fearless prize fighter of all time. And I am not even close to joking when I say that.

As for more light on this matchup, calzaghe had a smooth run to the top in comparison to collins.

Collins gave all Mccallum could handle, and was flat out robbed against reggie johnson. When he came to fight in britain Eubank and Benn initially wanted no part of him, and it was only through Ray Close pulling out of a rubber match with eubank that he ever got a break at all.

I dont see anything like mccallum johnson or kalambay (where collins was robbed again) on joes resume. Collins would whip him good.

i've seen steve collins fights against eubank and benn. And this guy is the biggest hugger in the sport. He is a ****ing big time cheater and gets away with it. I know Hatton and Calzaghe hold sometimes because thats part of there tactics but steve collins sucks. And he holds constantly... He must be really strong or something because I saw him holding more then throwing punches. He like threw like 1-2 punches and had benn on the floor... Collins is crap, and I don't know the hype about him other then he is another white british boxer. He is a cheater though

I don't know what you have against Collins, but no way did he hold to the extent you're claiming,man. And did you see the Collins Benn fights man? He wasn't a cheater.

Calzaghe-Collins would have been a good fight, but he ducked out of that.

I don't like colins, before he got the knockdown against benn. He held and hit him. A prime eubank, benn, kills Collins in the ring. And now I know why he has such a big following... Cause the irish need someone to root for, since most of there boxers suck and are like john duddy and just want big pay checks and not to fight ppl to win.

Collins wasn't very good, but he was rather effective with lunges and **** technique etc, strangely effective.

I respect him, he took Benn's best left hooks and didn't blink an eyelid (!!), that's what I respect him for most, that and going 12 with McCallum despite having broken ribs in the fifth.

Eubank was clearly not himself in those Collins fights (Eubank won the first fight cleanly though, IMO), and Kalambay made him look silly. But he was world-class, Collins.

Jones doesn't really have a problem, and Calzaghe would have to fight on the outside with speed or Collins may beat him physically up-close with smarts.

He's a strange one, though.
