Castillo was really a great great fighter in his prime, but his prime was cut way short after that first castillo fight, and he should probably hang them up soon.
Although i do still really enjoy watching the guy. He is very very exciting and always will beComment

Nice to Castillo get back on the winning track. You guys are right he's probably done fighting the big important fights where he has a chance, but will more likely fight the up and comers and probably will win some and make good paychecks.Comment

I think people are being too quick to wave him off, he lost to Ricky Hatton he didn't lose to Carlos Maussa ya dig he just got caught with a good shot from an undefeated, Champion power puncher right on his liver, such a good Champion that he's next in line to face todays P4P Champion in what COULD turn out to be a classic if Floyd decides to excersize his offense.. Castillo as I have always said was in a division where he didn't belong, that guy is a Lightweight in all actuality it's just he doesn't train hard enough to drop the pounds. even at 140 he would be good it's just you can't expect to win a fight at Jr Welterweight VS the recognized Champion in that division just like that.. if he takes his time and comes back at 140 against someone in the likes of Maussa or Bailey, maybe even Lovemore he could engage more in his type of fight with someone who isn't so sluggish like Hatton, someone who will brawl on the inside with you but not grab you up as much..
Castillo still has some gas left, I remember posting in another thread that he was just out of his own league, he stepped into uncharted territory and lost but he lost against the best of that weight class in one of few fights there, he could have taken a tune up bout but he went straight at Ricky and was doing relatively well until that 1 punch landed, once landed the fight was instantly over, it was a great shot but it was one of those shots that make you wonder what would have happened IF it didn't instantly retire Castillo from the fight, he was finding his rythm but he was shifted by the same type of punch that knocked out Oscar De La Hoya for the first time in his career.. that IS understandable and it shouldn't rule him out as a shot fighter.. I have said it myself that Castillo is shot but I was really unsure about it, I posted in different threads that he's shot and in others that he ain't but with this win I don't think he is, it's hard to rule someone out for going down to such a devastating punch, he was hit square on an organ with full force, thats understandable that he will fall.. this win is good for him and hopefully he can open his eyes and realize that the Welterweight division isn't for him.. 100Comment

Exactly, he lost to a p4p level fighter. I hope Castillo can pull a Gatti and excell after the loss, like Gatti did after the de la Hoys loss.
Because Gatti went on to two FOTY awards, a second world title, and four (Leija, Branco, Damgaard, Dorin) of his best wins. And by that time I would say Gatti was shot for sure. I still think Castillo could beat Urango, Rees, M'Baye, and maybe (not so sure though) Torres.Comment

naughty avatar, very naughty!Jose Luis Castillo won by 6th rd TKO over Adan Casillas in his first fight since getting KO 4 in his last fight with Ricky Hatton. Castillo weighted in at 146 for this fight against Casillas.
Time will tell if Castillo will stay at Welterweight or go back to the 140 division.
Jose Luis Castillo has weighted as much as 150 in past fights, but was still able to get back to the lower weight in the past, we will see if that's the case this time.

I don't think Hatton's bodyshot actually broke his ribs, to me it looked to far back to do that kind of damage, but I don't really know.
This was a good journeyman for Castillo to fight, because the guy did pose some kind of a threat (15 KO's in 20 wins is respectable).Comment

Sure he could probably beat those guys who are good, but not top notch fighters. At WW the talents to deep for him to have a chance, but at Jr WW he could get a title because that division isn't that strong. I guess I will have to wait and see when he fights another top fighter if he's really shot or not or if he loses to a fighter thats below his level.I hope Castillo can pull a Gatti and excell after the loss, like Gatti did after the de la Hoys loss.
