Did anyone expect Tarver to trouble (an aging) Jones the way he did? Did you expect Jones to DOMINATE Toney? Or Hopkins to dominate Tarver?

Calzaghe may be better. Who knows? But there was a de-facto round-robin among the best fighters in those weight classes, and calzaghe was excluded from that. But BPP wants to "ivory tower" Calzaghe's way to greatness. That's bull****.

What was the fallout when Floyd took the "I'm better than Margarito so I don't have to fight him" approach?
Dios goes back to the RACE card. I back things up with facts.

Jones fought Hopkins in 1993, Calzaghe turned pro IN DAMN 1993 and didnt win a title until 1997 when JONES WAS AT 175 and TONEY WAS FIGHTING AT CRUISERWEIGHT.

A few pounds apart my ass. And you also said Calzgahe had Pavlik there to make a fight...HA! Tarver, who on the record wanted about 10 million after the loss to Johnson and cant seem to make a fight with anyone because the massive amount of money he demands.

Its about what they did AFTER THE FIGHT that shows their quality.
Hopkins went to 175 and won Ring Magazine title by beating Antionio Tarver and then beating Winky Wright, while Eubank lost two fights to Carl ****ing Thompson.

So what your saying is that, what they did prior to these fights meant little? Who's to say that the Calzaghe fight wasn't the final nail in Eubanks coffin after all Eubank had a number of hurtful wars.

You mention what the opponent has gone on to do, what about the actual fighters?

Calzaghe beat Eubank well, and has then gone on to defend his title 20 times and remains unbeaten regardless of who you might say he fought. Taylor edged Hopkins twice, couldn't edge Wright, beat a Welter and a Light Middle then was KO'd.

      Hmmmmmm.

I don't know guys. The first real talk about negotiations between Calzaghe and Roy Jones, Jr. seems to be in 2006. Maybe I'm wrong, and Dios might research this further, but here is the article:

        Sunday, 12 March 2006, 10:42 GMT
        Warren working on Calzaghe-Jones
Joe Calzaghe's promoter Frank Warren has confirmed he is in talks with Roy Jones Jr's camp with a view to making a fight in Cardiff on 8 July.
Former four-weight world champion Jones has already told BBC Sport he would be willing to take the fight.

"If we can agree terms, I'd make the fight in a heartbeat," Warren told BBC Radio Five Live. "I've been speaking to Jones' lawyer for about a month now.

"It depends on what sort of money the US TV networks put up for the fight."

Wow Are you trying to misinterperet what im saying or are you just that thick headed?
This isnt about who was the overall better fighter, we are talking about fighters who were "over the hill" a fighters opponents and results after their fight proves how washed up they were or were not.
How do you not get this??

I dont even need to mention Tony Booth, but losing to Scott Pemberton twice is pretty damn sad.
Joppy's losses at least came agaisnt opponents like Trinidad, Taylor and Hopkins. (Minus Julio Ceaser Green, who he beat in their rematch)

Joppy was a good fighter who was a cut below championship quality, Sheika was nothing more than a brawler.
Sheika's style ruined him. The Pemberton losses were also wars. Joppy coasted the last five rounds of the Hopkins fight to collect the 50K bet or whatever it was Hopkins said he would pay if Joppy made it to the final bell. He danced, laughed and made a mockery of his title shot with Taylor. They should have banned him over that fight. He made no effort to win. Sheika, win or lose, always came to win. Sheika's losses are worse than those of Joppy but he also has better wins than those of Joppy.

                • Pavlik #9? They listed Broco as one of his awesome wins, lol. Pavlik is good but he needs a couple more awesome wins against top opponents to be p4p in my opinion.

Knockouts of Miranda and Taylor place the undefeated Pavlik right in there, son.

Duchess, stop being a sissy. All you've done is make up weak excuses for CalSlappy.

You got the wrong dude. Because I don't play the race card. But interesting that you bring that up with regards to Calzaghe. Thanks for letting your agenda be known.

After Kessler, Calzaghe will have the entire cast of The Contender to choose from.

Again: calzaghe had a whole slew of US championship-calibre fighters from 160 to 175. He stayed in his backyard and fought lesser comp. Period.
