From 2000, onward.. I'd still pick Bernard Hopkins, at this point. Floyd has a chance to topple that, but then again so does Ricky Hatton if he wins.

see personally i cant see anything hopkins has done that floyd hasnt.
hopkins moved up 2 divisions and won titles at an old age, floyd has moved up far more divisions and won so many titles i cant keep count and is only 30 years old. if flyod beats hatton then in my opinion he's the best of our generation and proberly in the top ten of the best ever p4p.

I count a guy defending his titles 20 times in a row, and taking on a BIG YOUNG guy, when he was OLDER and SLIIIIGHTY fading, and to some, still won. Then he moves up, for another YOUNGER, bigger, taller guy and takes the TRUE LHW title from him. He also beat the same guy Mayweather did, more impressively, (regardless of weight, that's not the argument. The argument is, who did what.. and that's what happened.. In Hopkins.. biggest fights, he won VERY impressively, in De La Hoya, Trinidad and Tarver. Mayweather hasn't own TOO impressively in his biggest fights. Comfortably, but not anything OUTSTANDING. Hopkins also morphed himself into a new fighter, mid-career, something that takes a lot of determination. And he STILL has room to build, though I see that being tough against Calzaghe. Mayweather has more of the upside though, so I see your point and I COULD see him surpase it. We have to wait and see, in my opinion.

I said that because he's younger. So time is on his side. Hopkins, is done in 2 years. If Mayweather chose to, he could box for another five to ten years. At a top level. Hopkins, sadly, wasn't in the limelight for too long due to his attitude, and had/has less time to deal with. I didn't say he was more skilled, p4p, than Hopkins. I wouldn't ever say that.. Because PRIME for PRIME, p4p, I pick Hopkins over Mayweather, every day of the week, twice on Sunday.

No you say that because you really like him, contrary to your self-protestations. And no, there are fighters more worthy of the distinction of best fighter than Nard or Floyd. Get the fugg outta here.

I'm sure there are. This thread asked for my opinion on Floyd, I gabe it and said I think Hopkins is better. It's an opinion, not a fact. So, nothing I say is right or wrong, I simply have the right to say it. And, I happen to think most would agree I made a decent argument.

You're right by the way, I like Mayweather, AS A BOXER. But, in terms of his legacy, he has TONS to prove. And as a person, I doubt I'll like him, this or the next generation. You need to drop that as the excuse of me defending my OPINION. Because that is what I defend. My opinion, not Mayweather.

Wow. So you're making a distinction between defending your positive opinion about Floyd and defending Floyd. Then you self-servingly claim that most people think that you make decent arguments.

Incredible. The things nuthuggers say just to defend Floyd.
