I root for Edison Miranda and Kassim Ouma because their childhood's make me put life into perspective. Their upbringings were so bad I can't help but want them to succeed.

Why would you ever root for a child murderer?

Just thinking about it... I don't have a single fighter I root for. I'd say maybe Hopkins.. maybe.

I always just want to see a good bout between 2 equally matched fighters. In most scenarios I pick a fighter who I think will win, and usually root for them for my ego's sake.

Was that something he did willingly or in fear that he himself would be slaughtered. I think you know the legitimate answer to that question joe.

For me its things like style and skill that draws my attention towards a boxer!!!

Fernando Vargas use to watch him as he was coming up and always liked his style!!! But it wasnt until his fight with tito that i really started to back him!!! Even after tito hammered him in the 1st rnd he came back and showed alot of heart!!!

Roy Jones jr Speed, flair!!! One of the best skilled fighters ever and seems like he is boxings micheal jordan!!! The man can do anything!!!

Felix tito Trinidad Have always liked the way he fights!!! followed him all his career!!!

Erik Morales Warrior to the end!!! Pac found that out in the first fight!!! Even in the third he went down guns a blazing!!!

I root for the boxer I think is going to win a fight. I don't get attached, I have plenty of friends, and I don't find guys to be that interesting. They're here to entertain me, I pay 50 bucks (usually) and they beat the **** out of eachother. That's where it ends. I go for who I think will win. That's all.

All of the fighters I root or rooted for have one thing in common, determination. Toney, Lacy, Cotto, Ouma, Gatti, and Barrera (recent fights aside) all dont back down from anybody.

Other than that, each fighter has their own reasons. I saw Lacy fight Vanderpool, and I was drawn to the power punching. I saw Barrera/Morales I on HBO and was drawn to Barrera's style of fighting. I saw Ouma's relentless agression against Jantuah and was drawn to that. I didnt even hear about his life story until afterwards unlike most people. I just thought his high punch output was impressive.

I saw Toney fight Jirov, and I decided to go for the underdog, which happened to be him on that night. Twelve rounds later, I was in awe of the guys boxing skill and have been a fan ever since. I followed Cotto's career throughout because he is from my dad's hometown, and when I saw him beat the **** out of Pinto, I became a true fan. Gatti is same as most people, the Ward fights.

I personally find sports more interesting when I have a team or an individual to root for. That's just me.

I see what you mean, and I bet to get that feeling. And there are some athletes I can relate to, or realize have done thinigs in their lives, that build a great person/character trait. Problem is, I have a problem giving a **** about someone, who doesn't give a **** about me. Kinda like dating a chick who takes you for granted. No real reward in it.
