So.... fighting and losing to bernard hopkins is more impressive than beating Zab or something? It's not as though Floyd is sitting around w/ a gigantic wealth of talent and other greats that he's simply not fighting. He's fighting Hatton.... Who's left? Cotto? Mosley? Maybe Williams?

People love Boxer-punchers like ODLH... but his resume, while holding a lot of names, has a lot of L's and bad decisions on it too.

He will NOT retire after semi-retiring Hatton. He will still fight the Mosley/Cotto winner which will add on to his Hall of fame resume.

He has also said on Radio that he is interested in fighting the Williams/Cintron winner. He wants to be Undisputed at 147.

            So it isn't over yet.

But he is already an ATG and can still climb ladder.

where I rank him in terms of what?

ATG? Modern greats? Best of past 25 years in the middle divisions?

There's no legacy upside for Floyd. With the exception of saying that he beat the best at 140.

In my eyes, Floyd can only go down in this fight. Beating a mediocre fighter like Hatton means little. Losing to a guy of Hatton's calibre would knock him down a peg unless he avenges it.
So even though Hatton is highly regarded as one of the 10 best p4p in the sport today you classify him as "mediocre." And if Floyd loses to this "mediocre" fighter it only knocks him down ONE peg.

Beating Hatton wont make him an ATG but it will add to it happening before he actually retires , Floyds well on the way and his career aint over yet .

I voted no for the poll .

I'm not suggesting that he's running a bum of the month club like the olden days... but ODLH had the fortunate timing of being around w/ a lot of well liked and popular fighters. I'm not suggesting he's being handicapped by the era either, but you can't try to compare the two fighters based soley upon their time frame in the boxing world.

Not quite sure what Duran has to do w/ Mosley for this conversation.... Anytime you're talking about a fantasy fight there's no actual correct decision. The past is always glorified while the present is looked down upon.

"The Worst Heavyweight Division Ever" has been running strong w/ that title for what seems like a decade.
