I had Sturm winning in an entertaining fight, but thought it was very close.
Agree with a few things others have mentioned:
- seemed like Sturm was doing an Abraham impression for much of the fight.
He was pretty effective with it some of the time, but thought he would of been much better off using his jab more often, which is his usual style.
Also agree with the suspect stamina - when Sturm was active he was landing excellent sharp shots almost at will, but from the 6th round on he was pretty much fighting in spurts.
Very good effort from Griffin I thought - great determination & activity level, but his lack of power is a real title hope killer.
In a close fight, the guy who is clearly doing more damage with his shots will almost always get the decision.
Thought that Griffin was very lucky to get a draw on the bout, as a lot of his punches were hitting gloves, & most of the ones that got through weren't that effective, but he was busy & he was consistent.
Kind of puts a bit of a damper on the whole appallingly biased German officials for the home fighter wisdom.
The fight could have gone either way but in the end a draw is correct. I think the people who say you got always robbed in germany and you cant win on points in germany shut their mouth now, its not the case. Robberies happen everywhere here and there.
