The wasted potential of : Zab Judah

Way too much pressure on such a young Champ's shoulders, and if you couple that with the passing of D'Amato (the only man on earth who could keep Tyson focused) I think we all can see why his potential went to waste. Hell, people had such high expectations for him that even if he retired undefeated and beat Lewis and Holyfield I think people would still start with the "he should've"s.Comment

in regards to having tremendous talent .. yet falling short Judah and Tyson do stack up very similarly. Plus they're both New York natives
but where Judah and Tyson differentiate was Mike had some "issues" to say the least.
and Im not even making a joke of it.
if you've heard some Iron Mike interviews, talking about stomping on people's testicles or eating babies isn't normal
plus that car accident Tyson got into (not recent) was spun by the media as a failed suicide attempt.
granted that was one way to look at it, but the out of the ring issues Iron Mike had were a hell of a lot worse.Comment

You know Judah and Tyson were (and still are I think) friends right? Judah used to be a member of Tyson's posse.Comment

yeah im aware of it
Judah was actually seen in the background of the "I wanna eat your children" .. and "**** you till you love me" interviews
but from behavior, its pretty obvious who's the crazier of the 2 ... have you ever heard of Judah assaulting people in public, biting them and talking about being lucky to be alive at 40
look at some of the interviews on TV Tyson did .. he would just cuss the people out, for absolutly no reason at all. talk about misdirected anger.
doesn't the last comment kinda stick out at you? I know Tyson's a boxer, and granted they can die in the ring .. but thats seriously some depressed **** to say.
*did you read that bit a while back or so on pg 5 about Judah and the Golden Gloves. wondering if you saw it, cuz it was the full fight .. none of this "highlight" bs.Comment

Yeah Tyson really went into a downward spiral. I think a lot of that had to do with D'Amato's death, but even if he lived longer I think Tsyon still would've spiraled out of control.yeah im aware of it

And yeah I read the Judah golden gloves thing, he was uckin ghuge back then. Hell I lived in Philly at the time and I remember hearing people in my neighborhood talking about him.Comment

more specifically, to rid the confusion. I meant the Golden Gloves fight .. how Judah was looking up at the clock with a minute to go ... lack of focus AT that age, not surprised to see it later.
thats crazy cool. I bet everyone thought Zab was going to be the next big thing. And yeah true, D'Amato was a huge part of his life and once he died that really got to Mike.
I actually finished a book about Tyson a couple month's ago "A Mike Tyson Reader" and its really interesting the contrast from how the media perceives him, to hearing his side of it.
like take the Holyfield ear biting. the media makes it seem like Tyson got frustrated because he was losing, went ape****, and bit off a chunk of Holy's ear for absolutly zero reason at all.
yet the article in the book brings up several times in the rounds where Holy was specifically using his head, and getting away with it
Bringer are there any other wasted potentials other then Judah and Tyson .. who were on top young, yet flamed out in their later career?
interesting that in 2007 Tyson is still probably the most talked about boxer, yet then again not really because Tyson's a unique person (personality wise), and he was fun to watch in fights.
hearing about Tyson now though .. its sad, lots of people use and have been busted for *******, why do we have to here about it happening to Tyson .. can they leave the dude alone?Comment

Holyfield is known for butting the **** out of his opponets, and while I can't ocndone Tyson's actions, I knew why he did it when it happened.more specifically, to rid the confusion. This was the first "wasted potential" thread, I'll be doing Tyson's in a week or so. After that I'll have a wealth of fighters to choose from.Comment

thats cool. im looking forward to seeing what ya got.
yeah true Holy does have a reputation for butting .. but does the casual fan know that? Granted Holy butted the **** outta Rahman .. no way he did that with his fists
but I don't know if it was common knowledge that Evander fought dirty .. hey I just found it out after reading that Tyson book. Because I doubt you'd here that being the focus of Holyfield like the fact that he's done more good for the sport would be a bigger deal then him using his head if you get me.. but hey after seeing several of Evander's fights im well aware that he uses his head frequently.
and furthermore the media would never make it seem like Tyson's biting was a retaliation for the head butts (and if they did, not a big deal)
granted I didn't read into the biting too much when it happened, but every article or media outlet I heard .. never mentioned the butting on Holy's part
true what Tyson did is very bad (biting off a chunk of your opponents ear) .. but when lined up against the fact that he was getting headbutted .. it makes it a lil easier to swallow
then again 2 wrongs don't make a right, and Tyson could have just low blowed Evander or even used his elbows if he really wanted revenge/to get DQ'd.Comment
