  • Mayweather: "Calzaghe is Better Than Hatton"

Forget the best in the world, WBC welterweight champion Floyd Mayweather Jr. tells Sportinglife that Ricky Hatton is not even the best fighter from Britain. According to Mayweather, a win over Hatton will not do a single thing for his legacy, this fight is simply the biggest money fight available. In his opinion, WBO super middleweight champ Joe Calzaghe is the best British fighter in the sport.

    I agree with him.

Hatton seemed to have so many flaws

There you have it folks. Just another payday and soon 39-0. He is not even giving himself credit for beating Hatton.....Real Talk.

          Mayweather

Mayweather is just hyping the fight arrogance but when it's backed up it is called the truth.. Mayweather is at a different level than Hatton, he is going to embarass Ricky in December.

            Throwback fighter, ey

If anyone has seen floyd train, they would undoubtedly have to agree. His weight never fluctuates, he's always in phenomenal shape, and unlike many of today's fighters, he's in the gym year round (whether he has an upcoming fight or not). In that sense, he reminds me of bernard hopkins in terms of his discipline & work ethic (and we all see how far that regimine has taken b-hop in his career..still fighting at a world class level into his 40's). Not to take anything away from hatton (who's a world class fighter in his own right), but I simply dont see him having the skill set to beat floyd over the course of a 12rd bout. There have been many fighters who saw the difficulty mayweather had in his 1st bout w/ castillo and have tried to implement that tactic with no avail (even castillo wasnt as successful using that 'crowding/pressure' style in the rematch). Good fighters are able to make adjustments from fight to fight..rd to rd, so dont think for a minute that team mayweather isnt going to be prepared for that rough-house style of boxing employed by hatton. A big difference in this fight is that hatton isnt coming into this fight as the bigger..stronger fighter or puncher. You have to be stronger than your opponent in order to muscle him around & **** on him (i.e. hopkins vs wright or taylor vs pavlik). De la hoya has more punching power (esp one punch k-o power than hatton) and he wasnt even able to do any damage when he got floyd on the ropes.

In order to win this fight (or make it competitive), hatton will have to do more than grapple (grab..hold..punch). He's going to have to employ some sound boxing tactics like setting up his shots behind the jab & using some solid footwork unfortunately against the best pure boxer (not brawler or puncher)..but the best pure boxer to come along in the past decade. He didnt bust up kosta tzsyu. He wore him down over the course of the bout the way juan diaz has been doing his recent oppostion. That's not going work against mayweather b/c he has the stamina & conditioning as well as mental toughness to deal w/ that. Include an advantage in hand & foot speed along w/ above average punching power and that equals a long night for hatton if he doesnt plan on being able to match floyd in the skills dept (which to me is unlikely based on what Ive seen from hatton in previous fights). In order to beat mayweather at this pt in his career, you'll not only have to possess explosive..raw punching power but you'll also have to match his speed as well as his boxing abiliities in the ring. Some guys box, some brawl & **** while others are able to do both. Will it be hatton vs tzsyu or mayweather vs gatti all over again?? I guess we'll have to wait for Dec 8 to find out. 1nce.

mayweather only calls calzaghe a good fighter because he there are almost the same. both run like cowards both afraid to fight the best both never leave there country to fight and they always breaking there hands. hatton is the best fighter in britain and thats why he has all the fans.

Why would you discredit your upcoming opponent?
Sometimes Floyd does stuff that makes no sense.
