Cotto hasn't beaten an elite fighter yet, but then again, who has Joan Guzman and the so called Baby Bull beaten (two guys on a lot of people's P4P lists)? I truly don't understand why Cotto still doesn't have the respect he deserves. I guess the savage brutal beating he gives he's opponents isn't enough! Then, after he destroys Mosley, people are going to say that Mosley's best days are over and his age got to him. I just don't get it. At least Cotto is one of the few boxers today to make your money's worth, by putting on a great show. Cotto doesn't get in to that ring to fool around, complain or run, he goes to fight, and I mean fight.

Juan Diaz has beaten Acelino Freitas and Julio Diaz... both for championships.Cotto hasn't beaten an elite fighter yet, but then again, who has Joan Guzman and the so called Baby Bull beaten (two guys on a lot of people's P4P lists)? Those wins are better than the single Judah win.
Guzman hasn't fought anyone.
I think Diaz is more deserving of being on the P4P list than Cotto to be honest.
November will change it all though. He will definately get the credit he deserves if he beats Cotto.Comment

Guzman hasn't really beaten any better opposition that Cotto has. His best win was against Zab Judah, who until he fought Cotto was said by most to be "overrated" and an "okay fighter." Somehow when he got bat by Cotto it became that Cotto beat "ZAB JUDAH! KNOCKED HIM OUT!" Well since when did the majority of people who said Zab was nothing suddenly think this made Cotto that much better?
Cotto was almost knocked out by Zab with those uppercuts, almost KO'd by Demarcus Corley AND Ricardo Torres. Keep in mind, I AM A COTTO FAN. I give him the utmost respect and I think that he is a great fighter who has yet to be able to prove himself and probably will against Mosley, even though he'll lose, the fac that he'll stay in the game a long time will give a lot of people insentive to say he can hang with the elite. I simply think that he lacks certain tools to beat the elite fighters. His chin is shaky and he relies on aggressivness more than skill.Comment

I respect Cotto for beating the best contender out there as well as linear champion. But he is just one leve to become elite he need to beat Mosely and then either Cintron/William to complete is legacy.
Cotto is a good pressure fighter and best bodypuncher but I think his power is abit overrated he is the type of guy who wear outs his oppenet with bodypunch and cant produce a KO from a single shot to the chin.
But overall he is one of the top fighters you could fight at WW.Comment

Diaz has wins over Diaz & Frietas which are very impressive. I think people talk about Guzman more in a way of getting a chance. People just want to see someone give him a shot to prove how good he is. He's not ordained like Cotto.Cotto hasn't beaten an elite fighter yet, but then again, who has Joan Guzman and the so called Baby Bull beaten (two guys on a lot of people's P4P lists)? I truly don't understand why Cotto still doesn't have the respect he deserves. I guess the savage brutal beating he gives he's opponents isn't enough! The main reason why people hold back some on Cotto is that they feel like he has won a ton of fights due to his size and has still been rocked some. Like your last sentence was talking about the exciting fight he gives people. Whats so special about that when your the far bigger fighter? Some people thought that you could argue that he may have lost multiple fights at 140 if it were not for the fact that he was physically just too big for those guys and shouldnt have really been in the ring with them. Then at 147 he has looked really good but he still hasnt fought a guy who people consider to be a true WW.
Also, I totally disagree with you about the credit he gets. I think he gets a boat load of credit and maybe too much if you ask me. Everyone boost Cotto up to be this beast. The media loves him. Just look at the Zab fight. Everyone says Baldy's win over Zab means nothing and they give Floyd no credit for the Zab win but Cotto's name gets super huge for beating Zab after the guy hadnt won in 2 years. This Mosley fight is different. The only way people will take credit away from Cotto is if Shane looks really old and I seriously doubt that will happened. If he beats Shane then everyone will give him his respectComment

Since when is Julio Diaz or a Lightweight Freitas anything special? Am I missing something here? Freitas looked sluggish against Raheem, and a lot of people thought he lost.Juan Diaz has beaten Acelino Freitas and Julio Diaz... both for championships.

it only more impressive that Diaz is also a full time college student.
He got the stamina to go for 12 round non-stop.
As for Guzman he got his hypen when beating the overweighted Barios. He was the most dangerous fighter at Super FW is real punchers change of KOing him in 1st round for any fighter and Guzman debute weightclass fight him. Guzman came from was BW or Super BW I think and went straight to super featherweight for the title with the strongest oppenet avaiable.
It like Cotto going to Super WW and fighting someone like Roman Kamazin or Spinks at his debute fight which is alway hard to do.Comment

I mean, fair enough...
but is Zab Judah really special at 147? You honestly think that Judah is better than Diaz and Freitas collectively?
Freitas only has two losses, Corrales and Juan Diaz.
Judah has fives losses, Tszyu, Spinks, Baldomir, Mayweather Jr. and Cotto.
I think Cotto is actually pretty damn good, but his record as of now doesn't show it. The Mosley fight will more than take care of it if he wins.Comment
