I'll go out on a limb here and suggest that although Buddy McGirt knows his stuff, his view may well be tainted by the sour taste of g****s that Gatti left him. His opinion carries weight of course, but there again it would be more of an influence if he was picking a result that noone else was.Comment

Buddy will be right at different points.
But coming right at Floyd is a helluva lot better than standing in front of him. There's an excellent chance McGirt made up his mind too quickly because of what he knows. Sometimes knowing something makes it hard for you to see.Comment

Gatti could've had Vince Lombardi, Eddie Futch, and Red Auerbach in his corner and he wouldn't have won a round against Floyd.Comment

I think we all agree that mayweather is a smart fighter. Right? So, he'll be making adjustments...right?
One of the things I heard him say is that Hatton's punches are too wide. And if you go and review hatton's tapes, the next straight punch he throws will be the first one.
I exaggerate. Slightly.
But Hatton is just too one-dimensional. You'll see. Left hook. Clutch. Right hook. clutch.
You guys are very impressed with Ricky. And I understand that you need to be. Why else would you be fans? But nearly anytime a fighter is going to bring just ONE thing, he will have problems against broadly skilled elite competition like Floyd.
The one-sidedness will be Winky/Tito-esque.Comment

man dios gatti was damn near dead at the end of round 6, he had nothing left. both eyes were closed and he couldn't even open his mouth. But I'll never forgive Buddy for not sending Arturo Gatti out for at least two more rounds.
one more round and we would be hearing about gatti dying in the ring.Comment

Sorry, man.. .
But I really wanted Gatti to take a longer beating.Comment

Plenty of world class fighters are 'one-dimensional' in your words. The funny thing is, whenever pressure fighters are 'one dimensional' they get bashed for it.I think we all agree that mayweather is a smart fighter. Right? So, he'll be making adjustments...right?

Spinks cant infight. Taylor cant infight. Mayweather cant infight.
All of those names were at the top of the divisions at that time. All of them are 'one-dimensional'. Pressure fighters just get a bad rep for it.Comment
