pbf is past his best now, he's nowhere near as good as he was at the lower weights. he wouldnt get passed the four previously mentioned fighters without losing
Roger Mayweather: "He'll Fight 5+ More Fights"

That's your opinion and I respect that. Nothing wrong with taking on the challenge though don't you think? All the greats have had losses and that won't stop pbf from his quest to be an ATG.Comment

Not so much a publicity stunt... it was more of a business tactic.
It took PBF a long time to become the prettiest girl at the dance. So, he wasn't going to dance with the kid from the math club. He was waiting for the captain of the football team. He "retired" so that he can get into the position to sit back and pick-n-choose his opponents.
If a fight was unappealing or under-paying, "I'm retired....sorry".
If you remember after Judah in '06, he played the cut and waited until all the bouts sorted themselves out. And then took the most profitable one available.Comment

Big Paulie,
What if PBF dropped back to his best and natural weights? Post-Cotto.
Kinda like Shane has done.Comment

id like to see that, id like to see pbf at lw, of course his power would tell more. id also like to know if pbf could make lightweight easily enough. shane is a better boxer slimmed down, unoubtedly floyd would be toComment

I think so, too. But I also get the feeling that Floyd going to dominate LW/JWW would earn him little to no credit among fans or experts. The bar is just set at a different level.
Mira, mijito...Bojado and Forbes fought a JWW bout the other day. Panchito was 159, and Forbes was 156. All these guys are gaining two weight classes after the weigh-in. But if PBF fought those guys, it would be perceived as "unfair".Comment

floyds frame is quite small and i think he'd fit in perfect at light-welter, hed still come in lighter than most other lw's on fight nightI think so, too. But the expectations of the boxing fan is not "Floyd needs to beat Hatton, Witter and Juan Diaz". The expectation is that "Floyd needs to beat Cotto, Mosley and Williams".
So, in that context, I don't believe that cleaning out 140 would get FMJ any props.
If Zab was smart, HE would go to 140. There are great fights at JWW for Zab:
Witter: a redemption fight, and a big name for Junior. And a belt for zab.
Malignaggi: "The Battle for Brooklyn". And they have trash-talked each other.
